William Bixby with Farmers Insurance who is an agent in ********* does not assist his customers, he pushes them off onto others. He refused to correct a contract error. A Farmers Insurance customer assistance worker said it is his job to correct the issue with the property inspector who incorrectly documented my homes exterior. Which increased my premium after I had already paid 6 months in full. Bixby as the agent had to make a simple phone call to the inspector to change one thing and was to lazy to do so. He is rude, condescending and rather threaten collections on a person instead of doing his job. Instead I cancelled my policy and Farmers Insurance has now lost a customer because of him and only him. Now I am being harassed with collections agency over ****** dollars that I do not owe. I even provided him supporting documents from the ***************** assessment office and he still did not care. He needs to be fired.

      To Whom it May ********

I wrote a home owners policy effective 6/1/2023 for ******************************* which cancelled effective 12/01/2023 due to non-payment of premium.

The quote and policy were written with the information provided by ******** which included exterior siding 90% stucco/10% vinyl.

On 6/20/23 our property inspection vendor inspected her house and provided a report to Farmers underwriting which changed the 90% stucco to 90% brick veneer (see attached report). With this information underwriting amended her building replacement calculator to the 90% brick veneer which increased the dwelling allowance as masonry work if far more costly, the increased dwelling allowance therefor increased the premium which she was invoiced for.

Unfortunately, the policy holder has no knowledge of how the insurance business works as I am unable to make a simple call to the inspector to change one thing. As an agent I have no ability to contact the inspection company to dispute an inspection. To dispute an inspection, I need to provide proof sources directly to underwriting.

The problem is, the policy holder provided the proof sources to me after the policy was cancelled (12/12/2023, see attached printed email from client), which made the issue irrelevant.

If you have further questions, please let me know.

      Thank you, ****.

      Customer response

      02/09/2024

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Maybe your company should do an inspection BEFORE billing a person for charges so the matter can be settled beforehand.  I have owned this home 20 years no other insurance company or the ***************** has ever said my home is brick, all but your company has said differently.  Also ******** and ****** both Farmers customer service agents said it is your responsibility as the agent to fix the situation and you failed to do so.  I have saved text messages indicating this.  My policy was paid in full for 6 months and you made changes to the policy AFTER I paid.  I didn't not renew my policy because of this so don't say it was because I didn't pay.  I did not want to do business with you any longer.  Just like I was given a quote for ***** for 6 months for new 2024 car policy from you and found the same coverage from a different company for ****** for 6 months and William Bixby made negative remarks about that company.  Why can't you just admit your inspector made and error and drop it?
      Regards,

      *********************
