Jakes Moving and Storage billed us $3552.96. According to the verbal estimate from Jakes wife it would cost us between $2000.- $2500. 1 truck & 3 guys $225. per hour. Jakes sent 4 guys at$300. per hour in 3 uhauls not their moving truck. We had to sign the contract or they would not have moved us, I told the boys Id sign but disagreed with it. All day I tried without success to get ahold of ****. $15. per tv to wrap, I had saved bubble wrap from our large tv we had just purchased, they did not use it. $9. to wrap a mattress. Said items would be blanketed and shrink wrap used. Had very few blankets and used shrink wrap very sparingly, I have a few pictures if needed, I did send **** pictures of damage to wood furniture, an upholstered chair had a leg cracked off ! Yes cracked, not just broken! I have never had to empty drawers in any previous moves so did not for this move. **** said we always tell people to do, I said I would not have hired you if you had told me to do that, as its not required of any other movers Ive ever had move for me. We had drawers so messed up we could not get them open, some had stuff had fallen behind the drawers. My husband had boxes with bolts and screws all mixed together and were in a separated drawers in a cabinet in the box to start with!! We personally moved all the antique and fragile things, wall pictures, lamps, dishes. My husband had a friend with a trailer help him move all the stuff in the garage including workshop. My husband had the grandkids help move several suv loads of boxes and yes they kept them upright. Jakes started at 7:45 finished at 4:15, same day. They used only 1 & 1/2 of the 3 trucks they brought. According to my calculations, 8 hrs.$ ****. 4 mattresses at $9. = 36, 2 tv at $15 =30 , plus tax$135.30. I believe we were overcharged $957.66. *** tried working with **** asking for an itemized bill, he said what we have is all he ever gives. **** refuses to work with me. Need refund!Initial Complaint

On Nov. 8, 2022 ******* contacted Jakes moving company with a request for a quote. **** called her later with an hourly price for 4 men to pack their garage and house on Nov. 17, 2022 and 4 men to load everything onto a moving truck on Nov.0, 2023. We were expecting four packers at 9 a.m. but only two men showed up. They started packing in the garage but one of the packers did not dress appropriately and got cold and asked to pack inside instead. The man in the garage proceeded to smoke in our garage while he packed our belongings. After a few hours, the older guy said they were finished and not going to pack anymore. He left us boxes to do the rest. There was still so much more to pack. On the loading day, 4 men showed up to load. Shortly after they started, one of the guys left and never came back. Two of the guys loading the house items and one guy waited on the truck to load it in. The two men slid my husbands large dresser on our wood floors. Not only damaging the floor but breaking off the leg of the dress. The leg is beyond repair. The older guy outside loading the truck was waiting and leaned his weight on our sons cube organizer and broke it beyond repair. We were assured by the workers that **** would take care of the things they broke and noted it on the paperwork. The dresser cost $1,500. The cube cost $100. We will have to hire someone to fix the floor. An estimate is $500. I have attached pictures. We have also tried to rectify this situation by calling and emailing Jakes Moving numerous times, our phone records and emails can be provided to show. Jakes Moving has not worked with us to resolve this. They do not answer or email when we call or email. It was only after ******* left a review on their ******** did ****** email back saying because of that, they will not do anything. ****** then blocked ******* from contacting them on ********.
