I contacted *** back in May of 2021 to discuss tearing down a previous deck in my backyard and re-building one. I also had several other quotes that were in the same ball park. I decided to go with him because he had local positive feedback. He quoted us $16,000 and said hed break up the payments during the course of the build. My wife and i initially gave him $8,000 to start. He also explained that he would take care of any permitting we needed, and he could have the old deck torn done and new one built within 10 days of receiving the permit. A few weeks go by and i followup with *** on status of permits, hasnt filed them. In the middle of June I inquired about *** filing for the permit and he claims to have gotten COVID. I let 14 days pass and ask him when hes coming by to tear down my old deck. Says h*** come by the next week. Now we are pushing into July at this point. He finally comes by and says hes going to take down the old deck. He says he needs $2,000 to take down the old deck as part of the installment plan. When he finished tearing down my previous deck, half of it was still standing. For weeks afterwards i kept asking him when he was going to come back and finish tearing it down and he kept delaying it. He then showed up weeks later and wanted to begin drilling holes and pouring concrete piers without having the permit. I asked him about it and he made up an excuse by saying we had a miscommunication. I then took it upon myself to file for the *** letter (which i received the next day) and gave him everything he needed to file the permit for the village. I had drilled holes in my yard for months before he actually poured the piers. Once we were finally issued the permit, he came by and took the rest of the old deck down and poured the piers. He would then come back in an inconsistent manner and only work for an hour a day. I told him that he needed to complete the job by a certain date, and he agreed but did not come through.
