On 12/23 My daughter's vehicle became disabled on the side of the road in front of Meijers on Shawano Avenue during a storm. My daughter called me to let me know the vehicle needed to be towed. When I got on scene the officer was there was talking to my daughter. He asked where we wanted the car to be towed. And the address was given ********************. I told him I have roadside assistance through my insurance. He said the vehicle needed to get off the road right away and will get towed to your house. So we went directly home. The vehicle was never towed to my home. I also didn't even know who the tow company was and I had no idea who to contact. I talked to the police department 12/24 Christmas Eve after calling several times and found out it was Heavy duty. When I called I spoke to a woman there and she said the police rarely give them an address so that's why it got towed to their facility. I said we gave the officer the address and he wrote it down. She said no address was given. The bill was going to be over $320 plus tax. And I explained to her that the vehicle was never supposed to go to their facility. She said the driver never received an address. So after talking for a while she dropped to $197.50 and i said so it went to $159 with card i said i will pay cash And then i could have State Farm reimburse me. They were going to charge me a 4% fee if I used my credit card So that is why opted for cash. And they agreed to tow it to my home. The vehicle was never brought to my home once again. I was very busy over christmas and new years with family visiting and at work. I reached out again today 1/13 and she told me the bill is now a $1000. And today she decided to lie to me and said the driver brought the vehicle to my home and sat there for 20 minutes and no one came out. We went directly home 11/23 after this incident at Meijers. I live .9 miles from Meijers. My daughter is pregnant with twins and needs her ***** ****** pathfinder. Horrible experience.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

I have not heard back the response from Heavy Duty. But I wanted to let you know my daughter and I went to Heavy Duty in person on 1/17 and the owner agreed to take all the charges off except for the tow. And I also paid them to tow the pathfinder to be assessed.  I appreciate them taking the time to listen to us in person at their facility. They also offered to scrap the vehicle for us if we wanted to. I said I would like to have my mobile mechanic come and take a look at it. After speaking to the mechanic it he needs to get it put up in the air to see whats wrong with the vehicle. I greatly appreciate how they handled the situation in person and the kind service they gave us.

      Regards,

This Vehicle was abandoned on private property since Thursday, 2-17-2022.  The property owner put a note on the wind shield stating that the car couldn't be left in their parking lot.  On Tuesday, 2-22-2022 the vehicle was ticketed per the property owner's request by the ********* *********** at 10:00am.  ********** tried to contact the owner multiple times with no success.  The property owner contacted Heavy Duty to have the car towed off of their property at 11:40 am on 2-22-2022.  ********** dept had nothing to do with notifying us for the towing of this vehicle.  **************** arrived at Heavy Duty to retrieve his vehicle he yelled at the office person and used extremely foul language.  So loud that I heard him from the back office.  He finally paid his charges and left.

This is a perfect example of a person not taking responsibility for his actions.  The accusation that our company is involved in illegal activity with the police department is absurd.  I would suggest that Mr ******* take a better look at this situation and realize who is actually at fault.

This complaint is about Crosby Heavy Duty Wrecking... Crosby towed my car when I was admitted to the hospital and while in the hospital I had 2 episodes of Atrial Fibrillation and near heart attack/stroke. While I was in the hospital Crosby junked my car and sold it to a salvage dealer.I was informed that my vehicle was at police impound and believed that as I had no reason not to. The ********** of ************** told me I had to work with Crosby who junked my car and ************** who has it now.****** is holding my car waiting for ***** to help me straighten out this mistake. ***** won't contafct me, the said they "sent me a certified letter." (As if that is enough to steal your car out from under you.) I rec'd NO letter. The DOT says to work with ***** and ****** says to work with *****. They refuse to work with me and claim they did nothing illegal What they did was steal my car and sell it.

*********************************** vehicle was towed by ************ due to being a hazard on the highway.  It was towed to our holding lot.  After 7 to 10 days a certified letter was sent out.  *** post office tried to deliver it 3 times.  We have documented proof of this.  We were not contacted by ****** or anyone else.  After 30 days we are allowed to salvage out the vehicle.  We followed our due-diligent.  We also spoke to **************.  ***y contacted the *** and were told that we both followed procedure.

******* Called our office to complain.  She wouldn't listen to reason.  Her yelling and talking over our person was unnecessary.  Her complaint is unjustified because she didn't take responsibility for herself.  We are a professional company that handles these situations every day.  Occasionally we come across someone that we can't deal with.  This is such the case.

If ******* wants to retrieve her vehicle she will have to pay all charges that have incurred.  This is another point that she wouldn't listen to.  No matter what we say or do she will not be satisfied.

I cant imagine anyone would believe its OK to sell a car out from under a seriously ill hospitalized woman. In October, 2021, Crosby Heavy Duty Wrecker towed my vehicle; I was told the vehicle was in the police impound and had no reason to question this information.I fully expected to retrieve my vehicle after my hospitalization. My recuperation was long and difficult and I was in no condition or position to deal with anything but my immediate medical state. During the time I was hospitalized, I suffered 2 episodes of heart attack with arrhythmias and dangerously high blood pressure/stroke zone.I am traumatized enough. After my release from the hospital, I tried to retrieve my vehicle from impound and was then told it had been junked by Crosby Wrecking. I was shocked and stunned. I contacted the ********** of ************** who told me that Crosby Wrecker had towed my car and that Norbs Auto Salvage has possession of the car.At no time did I receive notification that my car was being taken out from under me. I received no form of notification whatsoever. I was ill and incapacitated. Norbs Auto Salvage is holding the vehicle pending reversal of the mistake by Crosby of taking possession of my vehicle while I was suffering heart problems in the hospital. Norbs is suggesting I work with Crosby while ****** holds my vehicle. The ********** of ************** directed me to work with ***** to reverse the mistake. ***** did not follow proper procedure. They cited they sent a certified letter. No such letter was received. The purpose of such a letter is to gain a returned receipt. In fact, no **** or intent of mechanics lien was sent to me. Crosby made a mistake and should not have junked my vehicle as it was clearly still in use. I also have belongings in the vehiclemy purses and several credit cards. I reported the error to the ********** of ************** who directed me to make note of the mistake and request the return of my vehicle from Crosby.

      BBB Reply to ***** Wrecking

I would like Crosby to work with the *** and ************* to unjunk my car which they junked while I was in the hospital. I was told my car was at police impound; I had no way of knowing it was at *****. I was seriously ill and incapacitated while at the hospital. I came close to a heart attack or stroke twice. I was incapable of trying to navigate this untenable situation while hospitalized. I received no letter or notice about my vehicle. In fact, my purse with all my credit cards that was in the car is missing.

I called ***** onceand the contact person kept repeating that ***** had sent me a certified letterciting that as justification for taking someones vehicle out from under them, junking it and selling it. Any human being would be distraught in that situation. Last I knew, my car was at police impound and I expected to retrieve it. The contact person at Crosby kept repeating We sent a certified letter; we did nothing wrong, we did nothing illegal. Of course I was distraughtthey took and sold my only means of transportation. I had just spend $600.00  on the vehicle a month before. It was NOT a ******.

Since the phone call was frustrating and unsuccessful, I contacted *** ***** of *************** who said ***** should work with me and ***** to rectify the mistake of junking my car. The car was clearly still in use and my purse with credit cards are still in the vehicle.

When ***** learned that my vehicle was sold in error, they should have immediately tried to make it right. That is what a reputable business would do. A reputable business with ethics would not tell a recently recovered hospitalized woman that they sent a certified letter and we did nothing wrong to take a vehicle that wasnt theirs and sell it to Norbsa salvage dealer. ***** is willing to work with me to reverse this error; Crosby has ignored phone calls, a letter and an email from the ***.
Crosby has had plenty of time and opportunity to make this right. Crosby says they expect payment? They SOLD my vehicle to *****. Theyve already made a profit selling my car and they want more money? Crosby is a business that needs to examine their ethics and humanitarian philosophy because they dont just work with metal vehiclesthey work with human beings.
