I called Mr. Holland's Home Services to check and possibly replace the battery on my back-up sump pump. The company said there would be a minimum charge of $89 (as I recall), and I said yes, go ahead. The tech came on Friday afternoon at 3:30 (not an emergency) with a new battery. He changed it and was finished at 4:00. For that routine service he charged $908, plus $50 tax. I had to pay before he left the house. I found later that he paid a maximum of $325 for the battery, meaning the service charge was at least $583, plus $50 tax. The invoice was a flat price, and contains no hint of how much the company charges per hour or per service call, and there is no separate charge for the battery. Neither the bill nor the website indicates where their office is located; it provides only a P.O. Box. I called to complain, but it took a week to have a conversation with a manager, who lectured me on how their charges have to cover their tech salaries and company overheads. She would not address their failure to itemize, or the question of whether the company has standard service rates. I had thought Mr. Hollands was a reputable company, but it seems to operate without transparency or accountability. If you have to call them to your house, be sure to negotiate a reasonable price before the tech begins work.Mr. Holland's Home Services, LLC Response

I have used Mr. Hollands services on multiple occasions. They provide great service, they are efficient and respectful of my home. NICK and his partner were no exception! They came into a bad situation and expertly repaired the broke pipes. They did so efficiently, with respect for me and my property. They explained each step . Hunter recently gave my AC unit a tune-up. He was professional, personable and knowledgeable. My questions were responded to with clear and concise answers. I asked his opinion on a few heating/cooling matters and have complete faith that he was honest in sharing his thoughts. Mr. Holland’s Home Services ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Critical: Quality, Value Paid $8000 for a mobile home furnace and ac. Had Holland insall our last one for $5000 13 years ago. Everytime we had routine maintenance done on that unit, something was always wrong and we had to pay for a service call. It finally stopped working on the coldest day of the year. I think $8000 is outrageous, but considering it was freezing out and our water and sewer froze, I didn't have time to shop around and I think the technician took advantage of the fact that I was desperate. They did install next day, which I appreciate. However, we have had to call twice for the new ac unit. It will run for 8 or more hours just to maintain 76 degrees. The first time service came, they said it wasn't calibrated correctly and didn't have enough refrigerant. Now it's doing the same thing again! There was nothing wrong with my old unit, but they insisted that I replace both together. This unit seems to be smaller and less efficient. Meanwhile my electric bill is soaring. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with Hollands service for the life the units. I just hope I don't get a service charge for them to come out on Wednesday to look at it. It's only 7 months old. Mr. Hollands is the best HVAC businesses around. My hubby and I have been with them since day one and they have never disappointed us. Jeremy was here to do a routine a/c maintenance call and found my air conditioner was short cycling. He worked diligently to find the cause and to make sure everything was working correctly before he left. With the hot weather coming next week I’m glad he could fix the issue. Their servicemen have always been friendly, respectful and most important, they listen!!! Something most servicemen don’t do.Mr. Holland's Home Services, LLC Response

Called and was told it's $90 to come out. After the tech was here he said it's $170 unless I have a membership. I decided to subscribebecausei would hopefully save some money. I called for a leak and the first tech came out and charged me $435 to replace a wax seal. After that didn't fix it, they came out again. No service charge of $90 and they didn't charge me $80 to start cutting the drywall to find the leak. The second tech found a nail in the pipe and I was charged $508 to replace sections on pipe. After that didn't fix it a 3rd tech came out and I was still not charged the service fee. He re-did the pipe that the 2nd tech did and after that a new leak appeared and I would be charged to open up more drywall and to get it fixed. Was told I can get a $200 refund but i have not gotten it. All this has happend within about 4 weeks.Mr. Holland's Home Services, LLC Response
