So tell me how this is fair (I know life isn't fair but COME ON)ON August 25 My 17 yr old daughter, ****, made her own appt at Jasmines ***************************** she wanted highlights, they said $250 over the phone, she told them she had long hair over the phone, she saved up babysitting money finally had the $250 - she went in for her appt. and when they saw the length of her hair they said it will be $350, AND because she didn't have $350 she couldn't keep the appointment. AND because she didn't keep the appointment, they charged her $108 for canceling. IN WHAT WORLD do hairdressers make $100 freaking dollars an hour???THIS IS A RIDICULOUS ****** my daughter had to learn - getting ripped off! When I looked up their cancelation policy online it said they could have charged up to 100% of what the cost would have been.I just don't think it was fair they quoted her an amount and then charged her because she didn't have the money. I told her after she should of at least got her hair cut and then it wouldn't have been a canceled appointment. But she was crying, felt embarrassed because she wanted to do it on her own. I felt like they took advantage of her, they didn't even offer other options she could have done instead of canceling.

********...thank you for letting me explain how the beauty industry works.  When a guest is booked a service with Jasmine Salon and Spa the front desk only gives a starting price on the service booked. When the guest comes in for their appointment, the service provider does a very thorough consultation and gives a price quote before starting the service. Prices can depend on a variety of things such as length/thickness of hair, the integrity of the guest's hair, what color the guest wants to achieve, and how long the stylist has been in the industry. There are all different types of blonding services and the picture that was shown to the stylist was considered a custom color, not the partial highlight that was booked. Different color options with a variety pricing option were given to your daughter.  The stylist stepped away while she called you to consult on what she should do. After your conversation, your daughter came up to the ** and let the stylist know she wasn't going to get her hair done.

Most salons are commission based or booth rent.  If you have a guest that no show or changes their mind about the service that is booked, the service provider does NOT get paid.  Most color services are booked for a minimum of 2-6 hours depending on what service is requested. Your daughter's appointment was booked for 3/12 hours because we were told she has long hair. The stylist actually lost money not doing your daughters hair. In the future if you have any questions or concerns with any service offerings; we would appreciate being offered the opportunity to address those directly as I am sure you are aware both the BBB and social media should be used as a last resort when the solution is not provided.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

My daughter called me for an extra $150 to cover the cost of the extra money you are now charging. I did not have that money to give her. She had no choice but to not get her hair done. It is not fair for anyone to go in there thinking it was going to be one price and then be told it was going to be $100+ more. That is a HUGE amount of money.  If your hairdressers dont want people to leave then the should do a better job at pricing. $100 is A LOT of money. And WHY wasnt she given other options to at least off set the $100 you charged her for nothing? Why did the hairdresser give her the option to at least cut her hair. I get that according to your astronomical prices your hairdresser lost money which is a whole other complaint. But I still feel my daughter was taken advantage of & I feel like anyone at any age is being taken advantage of if you up charge them $100 more than quoted on the phone.

      Regards,
