People at Alliant energy will not even send out an application for new service to a new residence! It's called pass the buck I've spoke to 2 different representatives the second said he was mailing out the application...still waiting. Spoke to a third person today. Guess what? They are going to yet again have a representative call me. See a pattern here???Alliant Energy Corporation Response

We apologize for the poor customer service this customer received when contacting ********************. We will forward her feedback to the field operations manager for coaching. It appears that an engineering technician contacted the customer a day after this review was posted.Review from Robert W

Bad customer service been out with out power all after noon. They won't tell us why and there eta to getting back on keep changing start April 16,2024 power went out at 4:28 pm eta was 7:45 change it to 9:30pm then 11:30 pm now its saying 9am April 17 2024. When I called ask why it's taking so long cause I have my elderly mother living with me and she need the power for her oxygen machine run while she sleep they didn't answer question just that this was unexpected. Then I ask lady why not get another crew out there help first crew she responded we are working on as fast and safe as possible. Then she got very rude with me when I ask why the eta keep changing she would respond. So I ask to speak to supervisor she told me no supervisor aren't working now. And they will have 1 call me 2 morrow. So now I got take my mother to hospital make sure she stay alive and my food going spoil cause they are taking so long to do the job and they refuse contract the ground crew find out what is taking so long.Alliant Energy Corporation Response

We understand this customers frustration and sincerely apologize for the negative experience. We do the best we can at providing an accurate restoration time for customers but its more of a challenge when we have major outages like we did on April 16th. Don't care about they customers. Don't care about the situations families face. Don't care about how much they take and raise they rates on us people. Don't care about how many families will be with out power in April. All they care about is money. Money, Money, Money. **** Alliant. **** ****** is way more understanding to families. I was notified that my gas meter needed replaced. My appointment was for 2:30, when the appointment was made, I was told it would take one hour. I had to leave work early for this appointment as they don't work any later in the afternoon. When I arrived home at 2:30/left work at 2:20(it takes 7 minutes to get home) Alliant had already been here swapped out the meter & left a tag on my door to call and have my pilot lights re-lit. When I called the 800 number, another work order had to be placed and I was told it would be up to two hours before someone could come re-light my pilot lights & that my actual appointment time was 2:15.....so it took them less than 15 minutes to swap out a gas meter......hard to believe. (In my opion)Very poor service.... they forget who was paying their wages & who is the customer. I have always paid my Alliant bill on time, auto withdraw directly from my account. Therefore, to me this is very poor service. The fella who come to re-light the pilots was super nice. Thus the only reason for one star.Alliant Energy Corporation Response

Charging for bill we already paid. Have proof that it was paid. Emailed it in. Still waiting. We have been fighting this since September. They claim that their computer system " returned " the money to our bank account. We emailed in our bank statements to prove it wasn't sent to us. We understand the frustration expressed in this review and want to assure you that we take data security very seriously. Upon investigation, it has come to light that this situation involved a scam where the customer's information was compromised by an unauthorized party. We recommend the customer contact their credit card ********************** to report the fraudulent activity and seek further assistance.Review from PETER S

We have not even begun to use Alliant yet as our provider for power and they have already made errors. My wife and I are building a new house and had to file an application for service. After filing the application for service back in AUGUST and receiving a confirmation email from Customer Support saying that they would forward it to the field again, nothing happened. Near the end of September I was informed by my electrician that the field agent had reached out to him asking if anything was ever filed. I, of course, responded with yes and I had received confirmation of the filing. Shortly after our electrical work was inspected by the building inspector I was asked by the field agent when our inspection would be completed. I told her I was informed that it had already been completed and had been submitted to Alliant. However, she had not received it yet again. This whole debacle has pushed our move-in date back several weeks and continues to cause issues solely because Allaint does not appear able to communicate with their field teams. Poor customer service! Waited 20 minutes to talk to someone who could not help me. They instead gave me another number to call and they did not answer. When I told the customer service representative, Debra, that I had been waiting for 20 minutes I got instant attitude and was scolded about being argumentative.Alliant Energy Corporation Response

Alliant Energy is not customer focused. My wife and I are attempting to install solar panels onto our home. Alliant is needed to sign off on the project. They are literally dragging their feet and delaying and obstructing us from getting the project approved. Their business practices should be illegal.Alliant Energy Corporation Response

NOT a Customer Focused Company. Have an established 3 season Cottage in Wisconsin Dells. We shut off the main breaker in Nov 22, with the intent of turning power back on in March; as has been done for many years. Tried to log into our Alliant Online account today to make sure service and balance is current. Could not access our account and received an error message saying we are 'no longer custodian of the account'. Called Alliant Energy CS. Bridget of Alliant CS advised Service is 'Not Active' and had no information as to why. Further, she had no information to go from based on the notes they entered into the account on Jan 3rd when they shut off the meter and locked our online account. She agreed to look into the status and call back, which she did 2 hours later. While waiting for her return call, I called our neighbors by the property who took pictures and sent them to me. Could see that a branch took down the line to the property and a new line was strung to the pole and coiled up to be re-connected at a later time. When Bridgett called back she said a crew was out on Jan 3rd due to an outage in the area and that they noticed that our meter was 'inactive' and shut it off which did not make sense given there are so many cottages in the area that the owners mothball in the winter. She could NOT explain why they did not contact us, and that they just unilaterally decided to deactivate my on-line Alliant Energy account. She stated that it is the homeowner responsibility to connect their transmission line to our property and said they chose to turn the meter off because of possible damage, etc. Bridgett suggested that it could be a safety concern so they turned off the meter; to which I asked "How can there be a safety issue if there is NO Active power line to the property". Because of Alliant Energy's lack of responsibility and oversight, I am being held responsible for an amount of money due on my electric/gas bill that is NOT my responsibility. I was faithful to Alliant for 18+ years by being enrolled in autopay. I was in a special program for a year. Half way through that year, in 2022, Alliant made a change of account name, per my request. In doing that change, they created a new account. They DID Not tell me the name change would start the special program over from the beginning. The representative told me, upon asking, that my specifial program would pick up where it left off with the name change and creation of new account. Because of that lack of responsibility, I lost about 6 months of my payments being rewarded in the special program. So now, a year after starting the special program, they're telling me I owe them a large amount of money that should have been written off. None of this is my fault or responsibility. Alliant is going back on their word. THEY LIED TO ME, and now they're making me responsible for their mistake. I HOPE NO ONE EVER SHOWS FAITH IN ALLIANT ENERGY AGAIN. They don't give a c*** about their customers. Because I am a responsible person, I will reluctantly pay the amount due over three months time.
