BRH did a roof for me in Oct/Nov of 2022. There were issues with a bundle of shingles not sealing on the detached garage and house. There are also shingles lifting and broke off on the bottom layer of the detached garage. I made them aware of the issue on Nov. 7th, immediately after the job was supposedly finished. They also wrecked some fascia on the house. We also found 3 piles of human f**** in our pines, 20 ft. From the garage. I made several attempts to get these things taken care. I told 2 people, (*** and ***) about the feces, and it was met with amusement initially on their part, until I said how disgusting it was to have your dog come to you holding a Subway wrapper coated in s*** Nothing was done! *** finally came with ***** to fix the fascia. *** told me to wait and give the shingles more time on several occasions. I told him everytime that it was a physical iimpossibilityfor those shingles to seal, seeing as the middle of the tabs were at least an inch up, and the side of the shingle had already sealed. This went on until Sept. of 2023. He finally said they needed to be fixed. We made an appt. on Sept. 30th at 8:00. I waited around all morning and they never showed. They then made an appt. I believe the date was Oct. 24th. They came and told me they didn't want to do it because it was too cold and the shingles wouldn't seal. Funny, considering they did my house and detached garage the year before in late Oct. early Nov. They then had the office manager send a letter saying they would be happy to come in summer of 24, to fix it. In the meantime, I have withheld final payment as I believe they have no intent of coming back. They refused to do it for a year with me owing them over $23,000, they surely aren't coming back with the money in hand. My insurance company won't release the money to me until work is complete and satisfactory. Now they charged me 5 months interest on the last bill. What company demands payment before work is complete.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention.  I can assure you that we will not be charging 5 months of interest on the bill, as well as we will most definitely be working towards a solution that allows the homeowner to be happy with the outcome.  We have plans to fix all areas of concern, and we talked to the homeowner about waiting until the weather warmed up to fix the problem areas.  We had very cold weather for the last time we attempted to do a repair, and would like to go once the weather is warm enough to complete all the repairs and not have any further issues.

We are very easy to get ahold of at the office, and have every intention to make sure things are corrected before collecting the money.  Small repairs should not deter your insurance company from releasing the funds to you because the bulk of the work is completed.  Either way the money would be going to you initially, not to us, until we complete all ************ and come to a resolution.  The only reason the insurance company has not released the funds according to the adjuster is because the homeowner advised against it.

I can assure you that we will 100% plan on coming back and fixing the issues once the weather warms up.  The interest charges were all removed, they were only added because we sent multiple invoices with no response and were unaware of the shingle issues when that original invoice was sent out.  All recent invoices have no interest and it will not be added back on.  I suggest we open a line of communication between the homeowner and us, and there will be no issues getting us out to repair this.  We had already talked to the homeowner and agreed that we will be out once it warms up to fix it, that was a conversation we had and still intend to obey.

A simple call to the office would alleviate the concerns of us not returning, or charging interest, etc, communicate with us and I can assure you everything will be taken care of.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

      [Please type your response here.]

I have a few problems with BRH's response. First of all, acting like this is the first time hearing about the issues in question. I sent documentation with the original complaint and also stated in the complaint how many times and with how many people these issues were discussed. ***, ***, ******, and ****** were all well aware of what was going on. If they didn't inform the proper people, that is a communication issue within the company, nothing to do with me. I did my part numerous times informing people about what was going on.

I also have no problem at this point waiting until it gets warm to fix everything, even though they had from April thru October of 2023 to do so. My problem is them wanting to get paid before it is done. Them stating that they had no intention of collecting the final payment before the work was complete is totally inaccurate, and quite frankly, dishonest. The reason for the last 3 conversations between myself and *********************** were about that exact thing. They wanted to be paid, and said they would return in spring to make the repairs. In fact I was told in a voicemail and a call from ***, that I promised to pay them, if I got a letter stating that they would come back in spring of ****, and that I broke that promise when I didn't pay them. I knew what their intentions were, I wasn't about to make any such promise.

Also, they stated that small repairs shouldn't deter the insurance company from distributing the funds. I have attached 3 separate emails, 2 from the previous adjuster and 1 from the current adjuster. The previous adjuster *****, said they wouldn't distribute funds until all work was completed and satisfactory. That obviously isn't the case. Emails labeled 2 and 3 were from *****. Email 1 was between my new adjuster **** and myself. That was the only time I said anything about AAA not sending out the check, and as you can see in the email, all I said was "I'm fine with AAA not issuing the check. ***** said it wouldn't be sent out until work was complete and satisfactory. I said "however it is done, it is done". It is in the attachment.

As far as the last line of BRH's response. A simple call didn't alleviate concerns. I made several calls with zero resolution. They made me look like the bad guy for not paying them the rest of the money, when it all falls on them. They were the ones to ignore my countless phone calls and communications. BRH, and only BRH are responsible for them not receiving final payment. Bad workmanship, and then not taking responsibility for that bad workmanship are the only reasons we are here.

      Regards,

      Al Muench

BRH will be making sure to return and fix the problem areas once the weather warms up.  We are removing the interest fees on the invoice and receiving final payment once the repairs are satisfactory.

I would suggest reaching out and making sure that the insurance company will still release the depreciation to the homeowner once the repair is completed come spring.  There is a time period that most insurance companies have to release the depreciation and you will want to make sure they send it out before that deadline or request and extension.  Again, that check still goes to the homeowner and I just want to make sure that you get the proper funds from them regardless of the small repair holding up you paying us.

I can assure you we have every intention of coming back to make sure the repairs are completed as soon as the weather allows.  Please direct all future communication to the office number ************
