Purchased a Search & Rescue vest for my K9 at Leerburg. Included in the options was a Search & Rescue patch. The vest was too large so I offered it to my team lead with a larger dog, and ordered a second one. Went on a call out, the team lead used it on her search dog. When search was done for the day, the vest had three or four small tears in it. I contacted Leerburg. The person I talked with said she couldn't accept it back as it was a custom order. I of course had the position that it was not suitable for search and rescue if it couldn't make it through one search in the woods. I informed her that another order was pending, and I'd like to cancel that. She had to get back to me. In the mean time I received notice that they had charged me for my second order. I immediately called her back and she agreed to cancel the second order. After several days, I called to check on status. They would not stand by their product. I received an email from the owner which was extremely insulting, rude, and inappropriate. I did not bother responding to that. PayPal instructed me to return the vest to Leerburg and send PayPal a picture of the vest and that they may need proof of the return and tracking information. I sent them a picture of the vest, the postal tracking information, as well as a picture of the box it was mailed in. Apparently, they did not receive my pictures and thus closed my complaint. I contacted PayPal more than once explaining I had sent pictures as instructed and would like my complaint reopened. I have never heard back from them. After several more days, I contacted Leerburg to check the status of my return. The person said the owner wanted to talk with me and would be calling me back. I instead received an email, another rude, accusatory, and unprofessional communication. Stating they would not honor the return as they believed I damaged the vest. Nor will they send the vest back to me until I send them $10, cash or money order.

We have an excellent return policy. It was clear to us that this dog training vest was not used for what it was intended. I cannot imagine what this lady did with the vest, my gut feel is she let her dog chew it up. Bottom line is this was abuse on her part and I won't warranty abuse. ****** agreed with us and refused to refund her money, which was the correct thing to do.

The business owner continues to send emails excoriating me for using the vest for unintended purposes, and accusing me of things made up and not based on truth. Why in fact does Leerburg provide free search and rescue patches and actually sew them onto the vest for you if they dont intend you to use their vest for Search and Rescue. Also a fact, several team members have this K9 vest and recommended it to be used. Fact: there are photos of the K9 wearing the new vest during the search. Fact: the damage was witnessed by team leads and members at the conclusion of the search. Fact Leerburg will not stand behind their product through a refund or a replacement. The communications from this person are unbecoming a business owner. I will vote with my dollars and recommendations of which Leerburg will receive none. Shame on you.
