I took my **** *************** to *** ***** on 2/7 to replace my motor. The price of the motor was $1700, and the labor quoted was $1400. I was advised that the motor purchased came with a 1 month warranty. When I picked the truck up on 2/17, I was charged $1920 for labor, well above the $1400 quoted. Also, there was a Check Engine light, ABS light, and emergency break light on the dash, no emergency break, and my reverse lights no longer worked. These were not issues before dropping it off. I contacted *** *** on 2/17, the same day I picked it up, about these issues. He advised me to bring it back, which I did on 2/18. I paid him an additional $230 labor to look into the ABS/parking break light/reverse light/engine light issue. I picked it up roughly 2 days later. That same day I picked it up a 2nd time, the check engine light went back on. I reached back out and he advised he would take care of me. He kept the truck from 2/23-2/27 and advised me that he would make sure I was taken care of. When the truck was ready to be picked up, he stated I needed to pay him $60 for a part (vacuum pump?). I test drove the truck and the Check Engine light was STILL on (in addition to the secondary issues, which he refused to assist with). I refused to pay the $60 due to the fact he never mentioned any costs when he took the car back and promised he would resolve this, and because the Check Engine light was still on. I took the truck to be scanned, and took it to a secondary mechanic which advised I need my timing chain repaired. (I would like to note that the timing chain was a known issue on my original motor, and part of the reason I chose to replace it. Strange coincidence that this issue persisted on a new motor, and makes me suspect he never replaced it, but rather made repairs.) I have inquired about the 1 month warranty promised. ******* went on to say he can't help me anymore, and what did I expect buying a "junk motor".

      Business response

Customer comes in to flo ***************************** Complaining about his timing chain, when I checked the vehicle it was more than a timing chain. The engine was knocking we recommend a motor for the vehicle we sold him a used motor install it.

The motor seemed fine customer took his vehicle. Customer comes back a few days later staying his check engine light was on.

We checked the vehicle it turns out to be. The purge valve was bad no relations to the motor.

We replaced it for the customer for $60 for the part charge them. A no labor just to be nice to the customer.

Customer leaves comes back. To tell me that another repair shop told him the timing chain is no good.

He then said he wants a $60 back. I said fine. Customer leaves Comes back A-day later stating that. What am I gonna do about the timing chain I told him that nothing is wrong with the timing chain.

But I will send it out to get diagnostic. Check on the vehicle cost me a $120 for them to tell me. There's nothing wrong with the timing chain the motor is good. It's not smoking white black or blue smoke out of the tailpipe.

And there's no problem with the time  chain  and there's no knocking motor is good. Customer wants to know why the check engine light still comes on.
I explained to him that he has other issues with the vehicle which has no bearing with the motor is  find the customer's driving his truck obviously. This shouldn't be a problem with the motor any other issues we're not responsible for it. Told the customer I do not want to do business with him

P.S. ******** also wants us to fix a reverse light that's not working after we told him. It wasn't working customers said it was  working.

They put a light bar in the back that they wired on wirings that are corrode. It has nothing to do with us. This is one of the reasons and other reasons we do not want to do business with this customer.
