6/3/2024 All City Towing was dispatch by police to tow my semi truck and trailer from an accident. (No other vehicles involved, no hazmat)Scene was cleared in 2 hours, and took 15 min to tow (7 miles) to their storage yard. Total time 2.25 hours and 7 miles. ***** and Trailer were separated and towed individually. We picked up both truck and trailer in less than 24 hours. We were charged $7,425.00 total for towing the semi truck and trailer.I believe this is a case of predatory towing. In 30 years of business, several situations of towing needed we have never been charged anything close to these rates.

Thank you for sending your concern into the BBB for a 3rd party review. I understand that after being in a severe accident it can overwhelming to have to pay for a service you did not personally request. After careful review of this event, it was found that in this certain instance we were called to the accident scene by law enforcement because it was a very bad accident in a construction zone, in a tunnel, during rush hour, while it was raining. The tactor trailer recovery took a total amount of 4 -4.5 hours to completely finish. It involved many skilled operators and their required equipment. Our equipment that was on scene is valued over 2 million dollars and we have to charge accordingly to be able to pay our bills and employees so we can be available when tragedy strikes. Our invoice is far from predatory, our charged amounts are far less then the national average recovery charges posted by the ***** and are very accurate. I hope this rectifies any of your concerns, Also I would like to extend an offer to give you 10% off any of our normally priced, non-emergency services in the future, just mention this correspondence.

      Thank you very much,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

$7,500 dollars for even a 5 hour job is not fair. Charging me $400 twice for the one sheriff call is just tacking money on. I have tracking on the truck and the tunnel video, I can see it was cleared in 2 hours and what time my truck arrived at your facility. It was not 5 hours, even adding time to drop the equipment. The trailer had no damage, it was a drop and hook for a 7 mile span for $1257.00. You make it sound like you charge more for rush hour and rain in a tunnel?  I appreciate the work you did and the response but you cant honestly agree this was a fair price. No one would ever agree to these prices up front.

      Regards,

      ***********************

I understand $7500 is a lot of money and you work very hard for every dollar you earn. To be a trucker is a very hard job and it's hard to trust people and businesses when out on the road. When I explained that the truck accident was in a tunnel, in a construction zone, during rush hour, and while it was raining it was not to charge more but to explain why All City Towing was called to the accident scene to mitigate the truck and trailer casualty. We are required to have a 20 minute response to an accident when law enforcement calls and in a situation as yours they call us and do not allow you to call for a private recovery because it would take much longer and possibly cause other accidents and or injuries. I have spent more time reviewing your accident and recovery and all of the charges are very accurate and correct. The truck and trailer were also pinned against a wall, the truck frame was severely bent, the front axle and steering gear were broken, and air lines were ripped out, our highly trained and skilled operators along with appropriate equipment were able to recover your truck and trailer without causing any further damage and was not just a hook and drop as I'm sure you can see in your tunnel video. There is a $400 charge applied to each towing event and in your certain case there were two separate towing events, one for the truck and one for the trailer. After your equipment is recovered, we thoroughly clean the road way as to not causing any other incidents. The recovery bill is very accurate and extremely fair so there is nothing I can do about the price of your accident recovery. Again, I would like to extend the offer to discount a future tow of a standard non-emergency tow by 10%.

      Thank you

My 10ft box truck was called in to be towed 1/8/23. In the event to retrieve my vehicle from the ********* City ******* I gained information that the tow its self was $983.******* at the ******* stated that All City Towing was responsible for towing the truck. Issue is they are charging $983 for illegally stating on a city contracted document that my truck was a heavy duty tow, 20ft long, and weighed over 10,000lbs. I politely called about the matter for more details due to knowing the listed receipt was incorrect. ***** at All City Towing was unprepared with answers to the questions I had in regards to my towed vehicle and policy. Then I was shooed off the phone by stating a manager was going to call me back. That matter didnt sit well with me. So, I drove to there 24hr location on ****************** and requested a supervisor. **** (manager) held a conversation with me that got us to no resolution, no clarity for the 3 requirements stated which my truck doesnt meet, and then he shut down to stop talking. Before leaving I requested a receipt or documentation of whom the driver was or dispatched so the tower could have a larger flat bed assist. **** then stated we could go on the ***************** website. I asked for a specific site and no justification or clarification was given. My claim is due to misrepresentation of my vehicle towed, the OUTRAGEOUS cost, and unprofessionalism from all I encountered at All City Towing. Simply as well the vin number if investigated reflects that my truck doesnt meet the 3 requirements of a bigger, heavier, or longer vehicle. Im also requesting their policy for heavy duty procedures and whom decides the weight in writing.

      Business response

      01/15/2024

We were requested to tow this heavy duty vehicle by the ***************** police department. This vehicle is a large box truck and requires a heavy duty wrecker to tow it because it is taller then 10 foot tall and has a gvwr of over ***** pounds and is longer then 20 feet. The price we charged was our contracted price set by the *****************, the price is ******. This is the normal price we charge for every heavy duty tow for the ***************** and nothing we can do about it.

The response back All City towing is vague, unprofessional, and mimicks their response to many of the complaints listed on BBB site for them. In the video it displays a truck that is bigger, wider, taller and heavier than mine on a much needed speciality truck. You can also see my truck is nowhere near that size nor needed a different truck for towing. All city towing hasnt provided the type of truck used, their policy, nor answered how they determine how heavy the truck is or if its 20ft long. Looking for a professional response and refund of money back due to there fraudulent claim listed on my paper work.

      Business response

      01/26/2024

Based of the customer complaint I will try my best to acknowledge and address the concern and help point you in the best direction to help resolve your issue. We were requested to tow this heavy duty vehicle by the ***************** police department. We are paid for the towing of this vehicle by the ***************** according to a rate sheet for the applicable tow inside the contract the ***************** has made with All City Towing. All City Towing did not impound the vehicle or have any control over what the ***************** charged the owner of the vehicle for Towing or Storage, All of those processes are done at the ***************** and with the *****************'s staff and under the rules and regulation of the *****************. There are 3 ways we determine a vehicle to be considered a heavy duty vehicle. Weight, Height and Length. The weight is determined by the vehicle being towed manufactures rated GVWR, the length is determined by the total length of the vehicle being towed and the height is determined by the total height of the vehicle being towed. This certain vehicle exceeded the limits for all 3 criteria, it was then towed with a heavy duty tow truck with a trained CDL A Driver which is also a requirement with a heavy duty vehicle tow. A heavy duty tow truck is defined as any tow truck with a GVWR of ****** pounds or greater. There are no further actions I can take with this matter because I am held contractually with the *****************, I am not allowed to negotiate pricing or offer a refund because the ******* is not ours, it is owned and operated by the ***************** not All City Towing. When you paid for and picked up your vehicle you paid the ***************** and not All City Towing.  I do however suggest asking to speak with a manager at the ***************** ******* to help you resolve your concern.

On October 24th, 2023 my vehicle was attempted to be towed by All City Towing but tow was canceled due to me being able to catch the driver before pulling off with my vehicle. A couple days later after the attempted tow (vehicle had not been driven since) I went to drive my ******** inner front passenger tie rod broke on my car, which is an issue Ive never had on my car seeming as though it is fairly new. With my car being not drive-able after this, it was parked on the street for a couple days and then was actually towed again on 11/01/2023 & taken to the ***************** tow lot. I believed & still do that the All City towing damaged my car when they first tried to tow it and caused more damage (as I later learned my outer tie rod was damaged as well) the second time the company actually did tow it. I was informed by the receptionist at The ***************** ******* that I had to file a claim through the company, All City Towing which I have been attempting to do since 11/01/2023.. almost going ok 3 weeks. My case has been put on the back burner, I dont receive call backs, no one ever investigated my case. I finally emailed the company after making numerous calls, left messages, filled out paperwork, provided proof & dates, just for them to tell me they are denying my claim due to the company believes that they caused no damage when they never looked into anything to determine that and they are also claiming that they gave no proof of the company towing my vehicle when in fact they did, twice & also took pictures both times. I am ultimately just looking to be reimbursed by All City Towing for the amount I paid to get my vehicle fixed which was $488.92 (I will attach invoice below) but the company is making it very hard for me.

During every phone conversation with the owner of this vehicle we instructed to follow our damage claim procedure and to email us with all of the required information. After receiving the required info, we thoroughly investigated the claim of damage which includes watching our on board dvr cameras. We never actually towed this vehicle. the second time that the owner is eluding too was not our company. and the first time, we were never actually hooked up to the vehicle, she came out before we hooked up to it and paid a fee for us to leave the vehicle. This claim of damage was denied and is still denied.

On Tuesday, July 12, 2022, my wife parked a 2011 red Chevrolet Silverado (Truck), which was towed by All-City Towing (record # *******). After retrieving the Truck, there were severe vibrations within the truck. We took the Truck to our dealer and the dealer informed us that the rear driveshaft was broken as the result of improper towing, and they recommended we replace the rear driveshaft immediately. We have documentation of the dealerships assertion that the damage was done from improper towing. As a result, we incurred $755.93 of costs (labor & material) that we are requesting All-City Towing reimburse us for as a result of their negligence in towing the Truck. We have called All-City Towing four times over the past 10 days and they have not returned any of our calls to discuss the matter. Because we cannot get in contact with them, we are escalating this matter in order to get a fair resolution. I have attached a copy of our paid receipt from the dealership, which includes a note regarding the source of the damages.

This vehicle was towed by the ***************** police department because it was in a tow away zone. It was winched onto a flatbed tow truck. after reviewing the video of the tow process, it is clear the driver towed this vehicle correctly and no damage to the driveshaft would have occurred during our tow. there is no part of the tow truck or securement process that gets close to the driveshaft. We are not allowed to share any pictures or video of the towing because that is considered property of the ***************** under their Police towing contract, but the registered owner of the vehicle can obtain copies at the *****************.

The truck worked fine before it was towed.  After the tow, it did not work properly.  We have a statement from the dealership that did the repairs that states it was due to improper towing.  This is the only time the truck has been towed.  This is the result of negligent towing and we have sustained damages as a result of this.

On 04/22/2022 my car was towed. It's a 2010 ***** Civic (Black). My car was registered in the state of ******* (License Plate # *******. I think that was the reason, but I am unsure. I called several towing companies in the city until I found my car. When I called the towing company, they told me that the car needed to be registered in the state of *********, and have insurance-But mentioned that I could pay a $25 fee to be able to pick up the car with no car insurance. So, I went to the *** on the 22nd of April and registered the car. No issues. I planned on paying the $25 fee to waive the insurance coverage to give me time to shop for insurance, because the towing company gave me the option of opting to take the car with no insurance, as long as I paid the fee. On the same day I went to the towing company and showed them proof that the car was now registered in ********* and had the license plates (Plates #********* with me to put on the car, but still they said that was not enough because I didn't have an updated ID. Even though I mentioned over the phone that my permit was expired, because I am in the process of updating my residency and I was told that it was okay as long as the car was registered. So I couldn't pick the car up. I was advised to get the car registered in someone else's name and or have a letter nothorized giving someone who's licensed authorization to pick the car up. I can't get this done because my permit is expired. I have the car registered and the *** knows, under the condition that I bring my residency forms in once it's updated, but still I am not allowed to pick up my car. My car is the only source of transportation I have and I don't know anyone to help me and it's already the 2nd of May, 2022. This towing company has given me such a difficult time and keep asking me to pay fees and do things that are illegal to do, just to get my car. I did what they asked me to do the first time. The car is registered in *********. Please help.

On 03/08/2022 All City Towing towed my Son's car due to being illegally parked and was towed to the ***************** impound lot. In the process of loading the car on their flatbed tow truck, they damaged the right rear tire. It appears they dragged it across the side rail of the tow truck, causing a large puncture on the inside sidewall of the tire. Due to their negligence, the city would not release the car with a flat tire. I had to hire a tow company to tow it out of the lot so I could replace the tire. The tire was not salvageable and had to be replaced. We tried to come to a resolution with All City Towing, but got the run around. We contacted them by phone on 03/09/2022 and again on 03/10/2022. My Son also went to their place of business on 03/11/2022. Each time we contacted them, they said the owner was unavailable, or that they would return our call.

after reviewing the process of the tow there was no negligents on the part of the tow truck driver. there is no part of the tow process that could puncture the inside of a tire? I believe the tire puncture could have happened inside the city lot or after it was picked up from the city lot. the city takes a video of the cars when they are dropped off and all 4 tires were air up when it was dropped off at the city tow lot.
