Beginning approximately November 2018, BBB Serving Wisconsin
has received dozens of reports from consumers across the country stating they
received unordered merchandise and accompanying invoices or
simply received invoices for products they have not ordered or received.
The BBB reached out to Colony Brands regarding these issues and,
on 3/5/19, received the following response:

Fraudulent Activity
Recently many businesses, in
a variety of consumer related industries (credit cards, mortgage lending,
health care, etc.), have seen increases in attempted identity theft. While our
existing security procedures prevented the overwhelming majority of the fraud
attempts from being successful, we don’t catch them all. As a company, we take
this very seriously and are constantly vigilant in taking steps to counter
these attempts. In addition, all of our retail companies are working diligently
to investigate and resolve all consumer complaints related to this issue.
If you have received an item
from one of the following - Montgomery Ward, Midnight Velvet, Seventh Avenue,
Monroe & Main, Ginny's, The Swiss Colony, Country Door, The Tender Filet,
Ashro or The Wisconsin Cheeseman - that you did not order, or you received a
notice indicating advance payment is required for an item you did not order to
be shipped, you may be a victim of this fraud. If so, please contact us at the

In February, 2022, the same situation appeared to resurface as evidenced by consumer complaints received by the BBB Wisconsin office. BBB once again reached out to Colony Brands on numerous occasions by phone and email, but unfortunately, we did not receive a response.
Colony Brands offers catalog and internet shopping through
its “convenient credit options.” Its subsidiaries include: Montgomery Ward, Seventh Avenue, The Wisconsin Cheeseman, Monroe
& Main, Ginny's, The Swiss Colony, The Tender Filet, Ashro, Midnight
Velvet, and Country Door.
