************************* ********************************************************************* ********************** ************ On Wednesday, May 15, 2024 and approximately 9:02 AM I had contacted Educators Credit Union (*************************************) by phone, **************, to inquire why I had no longer banking at access online as of Tuesday, May 14th approximately 6:30 PM A adult female answer the phone and after relevant information was conversed about myself and the reason I was calling. The topic was discussed of a remote deposit into my primary savings account that was made Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at approximately 9:32 A.M. as to the reason that my online access was blocked. The same adult female stated that more documentation needed to be provided before my online account would be unfrozen. No explanation was provided as to why educators Credit Union cannot use its financial tools, including SWIFT to verify the funds with **** of America. I am reluctant to share information due to a confidential settlement agreement however I did provide a court case number.I then began recording this phone call at 9:21 asking if corporate council was still the *** (operating while intoxicated) guy who was disgraced after leaving the scene of a DUI (driving under the influence). This question was not answered. The same adult female now announced unlocking access of the online banking account.

We always strive to meet the needs of our members. To that end, we have conducted a full and complete historical examination. Based on said evaluation, we are confident that this explanation should clear up any confusion. Our member deposited a $10,000.00 check via Flashcash. Our fraud systems alerted us to a suspicious deposit. The check format was out of the ordinary, and the signature on the check was unknown. The account was noted, the hold was extended from 3 to 7 days, and online banking was blocked until we could make contact with the member. Our representatives had contact with the member on May 15, 2024, and after his explanation, online banking was unblocked. This was a perfect example of our risk department acting in our members best interests to protect from potential fraud.

We are disappointed in the tenor of his message, as we would note, that as always, we treated this member with respect and courtesy.

Thank you for the opportunity to respond.

The author hides a secret that includes no investigation to confirm its banking fraud tools are correct. Had there been any follow-up investigation it would have revealed the following:

Over 230 deposits by the same company that appears on the fast cash deposit check for just less than half a decade.

Over 40 reoccurring monthly payments on the same institutions **** again to the same company for less than half a decade.

Something is STILL LOST since this financial institution was initially founded by teachers in 1937 with a guiding principle of not for profit, not for charity, but for service.  I will be continuing to be that member without apology that continues to remind them.

In the past I found many employees within this institution to have strong leadership, to have honest and ethical integrity, concern for its members, attention to detail, be both adaptive and flexible, and work independently to achieve the goal of the organization. But this continues to evaporate as of late.

And never should anyone be disappointed in doing whatever it takes to make drunk driving a thing of the past from the *** CEO on down. Lets save lives together!

We always strive to meet the needs of our Members. Our **************** Department has been in contact with this member for an extended period of time and has explained the situation and the solution in detail several times. We are happy to explain once again.

Our Member was in a car accident and did not wish to continue making payments on her loan while she awaited the settlement of her insurance claim. We immediately had conversations with member regarding how the loan was still her responsibility and how becoming delinquent on the loan would affect her account services. Member also had a **** credit card and stopped making payments on that as well.  Her accounts were in default for a significant period of time.

We informed her that we could not start a GAP claim until the primary claim was settled and we received payment.  GAP settlement did ultimately pay and funds were deposited to the member's account. Due to status of account, there were still restricted services. Member was explained right to cure and pledge of shares and was sent documentation. Upon expiration of right to cure, funds were offset to bring account current. ( Per Member agreement and disclosures).

Our member cannot leave the account open with only ***************, she must maintain ******************** She can come and withdrawal any remaining funds, leaving the $5 minimum balance required to keep the ******************* open. If she wishes to close the account in full, she would also need to close the ***************.

Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to explain again. We stand ready to continue to assist.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond...we strive to meet the needs of our members.

Our member did not specify which account he was referring to. We did receive and answered an eOscar dispute filed by our member last month. The dispute last month was claiming identity fraud. Our agent confirmed accounts status and that loans were not identity fraud.Tradelines may appear on credit for up to 7 years.

Reporting has been reviewed and is accurate. Educators Credit Union is not attempting to hold this member liable for debts which he is not responsible for.

      Thanks again.

On 10/27/2023 I received a letter from Educators Credit Union indicated that they had closed my checking account due to a significant overdraft, the problem is that the account had been closed prior to me receiving the letter and without any contact from Educators. I receive email notices and text messages regarding fraudulent charges, my credit score, etc, but for this action which adversely affected me I did not receive any prior notice. Educators did this to me in June and at that time I received an apology from them and they reopened my account. The most concerning thing for me is that they did not change their practice regarding closing accounts prior to contacting customers. I am also very upset that the letter I received indicated that my direct deposit would still go through which did not occur. So, now my pay check which would have more than cover the overdraft was returned to my employer (************************) and I have no way of getting paid (or paying Educators) until next week after the check is returned to them and I am provided with a paper copy. I am always amazed at how business's treat long standing customers who fall on hard times with no regard to the negative impact it has on their lives. The fact that Educators Credit Union has received accolades for being *********** best credit union is far from the treatment I have received from them.

Thank you for reaching out. We were able to pull transaction histories and other relevant information.

It appears that your checking account went negative 10/13/23, and the negative balance continued to climb thereafter. Once you were negative in excess of $730 (which is our limit) your checking account was closed, and the negative balance moved to savings. This is done for your protection. Otherwise, the negative account balance could have reached an untenable position.  You had numerous ACH transactions trying to clear the account, and no money in said account. Your current  negative balance is $1288.18. There are no pending deposits, and if there were they would force post to the savings. You also have no rejected deposits.

You were mailed an over the limit letter on 10/19/23,notifying you that we closed the checking and moved the balance to her savings.

Since we closed the checking, you have had 9 items that have attempted to come out of your checking that you never had the money for. This would have resulted in an additional $270.00 in fees, had we left the checking account open.

We are glad that we were able to save you from further deficiencies.

I refinanced my car through Educators Credit Union 05/05/2021 at a better interest rate. In the end of August2022-September 2022 in my attempt to save money, I called Educators Credit Union and spoke with a representative, asking to remove the insurance I had purchased upon my care refinance, since I had full coverage car insurance. I was clear that I wanted to save money and asked the representative if the amount of the insurance would be mailed to me upon cancelation and asked if my car note would be decreased, after the insurance cancelation. The representative told me that I would save money and assured there would be a decrease in my car note and indicated I would receive the total amount of the insurance balance (upon cancelation) in form of check. After a couple weeks I looked at my account through the banking app and realized that the insurance cancelation was approved, but the balance amount of $1490.87 was sent back to the bank and put onto the car loan without my knowledge. In addition, I noticed that my car note responsibility of $461.98 remained the same. I called the bank back and this time spoke to a gentleman whom I explained in detail what happened. The gentleman seemed confused, so I told him that I'd respect that he transfer me to another person to avoid further issue to my car note acct. He proceeded and sent a form to my email: **************************** advising me to sign the form to reverse the insurance cancelation amount to me. After about a week I again returned a call and ask to speak to a supervisor, where I learned that the amount of the cancelation was applied to the balance of my car note, and could not be reversed. In addition, I was informed that the amount of my car note, would not change-which was completely different than the information I was provided when I called initially to make the request. Now I have no additional coverage and my car note remains the same-defeating the purpose for my cancelation and attempts to save.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to address this situation.

We take great pride in meeting the needs of our members. We work hard to address any situation that impacts our member.

We have had an opportunity to review your direct contacts, account notes, payment histories, and other relevant information. I believe that this explanation should clear up any confusion.

When you financed your vehicle, you purchased an extended warranty. The warranty covered mechanical breakdowns, not physical damage.

On 8/23/23, a cancellation was submitted to IWS.

As it relates to warranty refunds, if a loan is still active, the warranty refunds go back to the loan as a principal payment, reducing the term of the loan. If a member would like to lower their payments after the refund is posted, they can refinance the loan, if eligible. The only time funds would be given back to the member directly, is if the loan had already been paid off.

Thank you again for the opportunity to respond. As always, we will continue to work with you.
