I went in one day around a month ago and asked for a day pass. I went in with my sister who has a membership (not the black card) and they gave me the day pass for free. We had asked if I would have to pay the next time I come on or if it would be cheaper to become a member even though I'd only be coming once a week if even because I'm taking online classes and working and when school hits I will not be able to go much. The manager had told me they would let me go for free until school since I wouldn't be going much. I proceeded to get free day passes for around 3 weeks until today. I went in and they told me it was $20 for a day pass. The business manager told me I was lied to and that it's always been $20 so he could not let me in unless I had it. Meanwhile, this was in front of another customer, and he was rude about it. In my experience, if you are told something, the business should uphold its promise at least at that moment. I asked for a reason because we all know you charge more for the day pass to try and get people to sign up for the membership. The more you treat customers like lowly people wanting to lose weight, the more business you'll lose.Planet Fitness Response

We can understand the frustration with being given incorrect information. It is $20 for a day pass, however, if you can let us know which location you are visiting, we would like to give you a one month free trial. We look forward to hearing from you.Review from Moniholli

I thought that I canceled my membership, but was charged in June. I called the local gym to find out why I was charged. They do not have a manager, and talked to Jesus. While sharing my story he became belligerent and started accusing me of lying. He never bothered to pull up my information. Furthermore he offered no resolution. He is the Director of Operations Management. The employees did not now who I could contact, so I had to go in the next day. Jesus was there and was very condescending during our interaction. He told me to ****** the Corporate Headquarters number, refused to give an identification number, and told me that Corporate would not know who he was. He was informed that all complaints would go back to the gym, and nothing would be done. Jesus said that there wasn't a number for the regional office. I've tried to research online, and it keeps referring me to the local gym. I am seeking a refund, a letter if apology, and customer service training for Jesus. I also would like a phone call from someone who Regional Headquarters or the franchise owner.Review from Nicole F

Worse customer service ever. I cancelled in person. They continued to charge me for 2 yrs. (I have $3-4,000 credit card statement every month so I didnt notice). I called. Tried to get a manager. The young college student would pick the phone up and just set it down. I could hear everything. I drove there talked with a manager. Got an email. No response. Emailed black duck as well. No response.Review from Jen S

The tanning beds and equipment are extremely FILTHY - tanning beds should be cleaned not only by the user but checked by staff! No body to help at the counter/ no one answers the phone or is helpful IF there is anyone at the counter. I cancelled my membership and was told I would not be charged anything else. A week later I was charged for another month!! I called and was told it is nearly impossible to get a refund - this coming from a current employee of PF!! I also called to complain about the horrible cleanliness of the location and was told to go to another location. Are you kidding me??? I'm supposed to pay YOU and then go to another location because you cannot keep your facility clean????? This place is a JOKE!!Review from Daniel J D

They advertise 12cents enrollment fee, and only $10 month with no annual fee the first year. The enrollment fee varies from club to club, but it is more than 12 cents. The first lie. Then after not even two months they hit you with an annual fee of $49. False advertising. The girl at the counter was amused that I was upset. I don't appreciate being LIED to. Planet Fitness should not be allowed to run those misleading ads on television. Yes means yes and no means no. Bait and switch is illegal. Tricking your customers is unsustainable, and only creates mistrust. I quit. Planet Fitness violated my trust. Shame on you, Planet Fitness. I called **** to put a fraud alert against future charges from this unethical business.Review from Germaine L

I went into Planet Fitness with a friend and her father to see if it was someplace I would want to work out. I finished a meal and then came inside after they started their workout. I started making small talk with the staff, but she seemed irritated. She was not friendly to me. She complained that I brought food into the building. I explained that I ate my food outside, but I brought my bag in the throw it away. I was talking to my friend while she worked out. The employee was aggressive towards me. I called later to see if I could talk to her boss. She was the boss. I will not be joining this gym.Review from Caleb P

Cancelled IN-PERSON, jumping through all the obnoxious hoops that this scummy company demands (what other company in **** makes it so hard to cancel their services)? Then, six months later, I see they've continued to FRAUDULENTLY charge my bank account. Any class action lawsuit against this company, sign me up! Make sure to VIDEO RECORD your cancellations, AND anticipate that they will keep charging you anyways and make you threaten legal action to actually get them to stop charging you.Review from Chris K

I have been a member of Planet Fitness for many years. In December of 2023 after not using the membership for quite some time I decided to cancel my membership. Although it being inconvenient, I went into my local Planet Fitness and requested my membership be cancelled. (as you cannot cancel online or via phone) I was told that billing had already been completed for the month my membership would be cancelled in January. The process seemed to be easy. Now a month later I received another charge on my account. When I called my local Planet Fitness, they told me that they don't have me as cancelled and that I need to come back in again to cancel. All while being charged for an additional month. I see from other customer reviews and even the disputes department at my bank that this is a common occurrence with Planet Fitness. Shame on you Planet Fitness for your greedy, difficult and deceptive practice associated with cancelling memberships. Beware to all who want to cancel your membership with them, Make sure you get a written receipt when you go in to cancel. Otherwise, you may experience the pain that I am suffering.Review from Collin D

This location has stolen from my bank account even after multiple cancellations. The local news that I intern for has now agreed to run a story about this specific location and their staff with mine and others documentation of their fraud. Naming managers and employees who were secretly recorded and the unfortunate things that they think they can say to customers when they think no one is listening. After the investigation, it is fairly clear that this is only specific to their location, so I would be wary of signing up. Anybody that reads this is welcome to reach out with any of their own documentation as well. Unfortunately this time they messed around with someone that has money and the time of day :)Review from Daisy D

Black Duck Partners LLC will steal your money. My experience with Black Duck Partners LLC has been horrible. I went in person to cancel my membership at Planet Fitness. Apparently it never got canceled and they continued to charge me. I finally noticed once they took out the annual $39 fee. I called the gym and they canceled the membership over the phone and sent me an email with proof. When I asked about getting a refund, the assistant manager told me to come in to the gym and collect it at any time. When I went to get my refund they told me that it wasnt possible and I would have to fill out a form and wait to hear back. I waited and didnt hear back from anyone so I called the gym again and finally got an email address so I could follow up. ******** from Black Duck Partners LLC refused to give me a refund because she stated that there was no proof that I went into the gym to cancel my membership. I asked for a refund for the money that was taken out of my account after I called the gym and got the cancellation form confirmation. She denied my request due to missing the grace ****** by one day (even though I did go in person months prior). I asked her to look at the camera footage for proof but she denied that request as well.
