December 11, 2020 I picked up Blue from Liberty German Shepherds in New London, **, I paid $1,250 on that date. On the breeders ******** page they claimed that all puppies were vet checked and cleared by their veterinarian. The day after I picked Blue up, I noticed the umbilical hernia on his stomach, I contacted the breeder immediately and they said I could just bring him back. I told her at the time I wanted to get him checked by my vet before just giving up on him. On January 7, 2021 I got him into the vet where they confirmed my suspicion of an open umbilical hernia and also found that he had cryptorchidism which are both genetic conditions. My vet recommended waiting a few more months to see if they had dropped or not, they did not. On September 14th, Blue underwent surgery to fix the umbilical hernia, find his testicles and remove them, as well as perform a gastropexy. This surgery in total cost me $3,000; now fast forward to October 13th when the vet found that Blue had a secondary infection. After 2 more weeks of antibiotics I had to take Blue to the ************************ in ********, ** on October 29th due to him again acting lethargic and not eating. I decided to have x-rays done, which revealed that he has adhesions where the gastropexy was done, his bowel is displaced, and again has another infection. He will be finishing his 3 round of antibiotics Friday November 12th, hoping that he does not have any further issues. If his symptoms reoccur again Blue will have to undergo more scans and tests, and possibly have to have surgery again to correct another issue. My biggest frustration is that Blue should have never had to through any of this, if the breeder would have checked for genetic abnormalities in the bloodlines Blue would never have had this done. I want you to understand how much stress this has caused me, as well as time missed from work.
