I was told that the total cost for two dental implants would be $6,000. Today at my last appointment, they tell me I owe $2,000 more! They clearly knew upfront the cost was actually going to be $2,000-$3,000 more. They baited me with a lowball estimate to get the business without ever stating it was just an estimate! They are a dishonest provider. Only when I became angry and raised my voice did one of the dentists come in and told them to charge me $1,500. My budget is blown for 3 months now.Business response

My wife ****************************** had extensive dental work performed over a period of several months at IDS. We pre-paid almost $30,000 and they gave us a 10% discount. All the work has been performed but there are several dates of work done for which they have not filed the correct paperwork (2/15/2021 and 5/3/2021) to our insurance provider. They received notices from our insurance provider on 11/10/2021 and 11/12/2021 explaining what was needed. In addition, I have called at least 3 times since then asking them to contact our insurance company. When I called again today and they had still not taken action I decided to file a complaint.Business response

We are a fee for service office that does not accept insurance assignment, our office only files claims as a courtesy. Patients are aware of this on their 1st day of service. Should a claim need additional information we will submit the requested information to the insurance company. Additional information was sent for date of service 2/15/21 and we did not receive any additional correspondence from the insurance company. On 12/12/21 we received a letter from the insurance for date of service 5/3/21 asking for additional information or a narrative and a request was initiated to our office manager to draft a narrative. Our office manager ended her employment 2 weeks after the request was initiated and did not transfer this case to another employee. We did not hear about this unresolved claim until the patient's husband contacted our office on 1/11/22. At that time our administrative staff consisted of 4 employees and 3 of them were off of work for an extended period of time, one due to covid, one due to maternity leave and one due to being in an accident. This left 1 administrative staff member. That employee ******** personally spoke with *** and explained that should get this taken care of but needed a little time to look into what is needed. We are a small privately owned dental practice that does not have an insurance department. It is not typical that our office gets insurance claim issues. This patient had several other claims submitted and paid with no issues. We received the BBB letter on Monday 2/21/22. We have personally reached out to the patient's husband *** to ensure we will look into this situation. On 2/23/22 we contacted his dental insurance to see what actions need to be taken and they indicated that they need placement dates of previous crowns. We do not have this information as those services were done outside of our office. I called *** on 2/23/22 and let him know I will need him to contact their previous dental office to obtain that information and then call us with it. We have not heard back from him yet. When he returns the requested information we will give it to his insurance company.
