I contacted PJs Plumbing on Sunday October 10 because my water heater began leaking and needed to be replaced. Paul Glapinsk came to my house to install a 50 gallon gas water heater. He did a fine job but when he finished, he handed me an invoice for $3045 which was twice any quote I had received. When questioned about the invoice, Paul was unable to provide the summary of costs. I paid him because I felt I had no other choice because the work had already been done. I expected a slight premium for work on the weekend, but his charges are completely unprofessional and unethical. I did contact Paul requesting a breakdown of charges but did not receive any response.Business response

PJ’s Plumbing was contacted by the customer for a leaking water heater on 10/10/2021. After a few specifics over the phone we asked the customer when they were looking for service. They responded for that day, Sunday. We provide 24/7 emergency services so we scheduled the customer for a water heater replacement.
We arrived at the residence and the customer did have an emergency situation as the existing water heater tank was leaking an excessive amount as the incoming water could not be contained so as soon as water entered the existing heater the water left the tank through the bottom of the heater.
We went to work to replace the unit with a brand new water heater brought to the residence on our stocked truck. We proceeded with our task and restored the customer not only with a new water heater yet also an individual shut off so they may isolate their water heater and keep the rest of the home operational.
We have “flat rate” pricing and not “time and material” so we do not break out costs for particular projects. We hope this complaint can be resolved with the BBB!!

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.The charges were not agreed upon and I was not notified of the charges until after the work was completed. Legally, an invoice must provide a clear description of what you're charging for which the invoice did not include. I contacted the largest plumber in the State of Wisconsin and the quote was over $1000 less than I was billed. The quote included the same water heater and and hardward; hourly plumber rate as well as an upcharge for weekend service. I have also contacted the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection that police trade licensing to investigate this business so that other customers aren't fleased like I was. Paul doesn't seem to understand unfair/unethical business practices will put him out of business.

The owner states she contacted the “largest plumber in the State of Wisconsin” yet that plumber did not answer her call that day, did not show up on time and provide and install a new water heater, nor did they provide any services whatsoever.
We hope this complaint can be resolved with the BBB!!

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appearI h as be received quotes from other plumbers for the same services and weekend serving. Their quotes were far less. Paul knows his billing is excessive which is why he has not responded to my attorney nor the Wisconsin Bureau of Consumer Protection. I will make sure to warm everyone I know to never hire this plumber.
