Sept 14th, 2023 I took my 2018 Dodge Charger to get checked out because there was some noise that didn't sound good. Had video proof and showed them and explained that I took to a different dealership telling me it was my transmission. The tech at Portage took my car for a drive and heard what I was talking about with the noise. The Clerk came out and told me that it wasn't anything with my transmission, it was my front differential. They also said that I needed a new driver CV ***** and *********. Parts came up to $4,600. I paid $332.27 for the service. I took my car to a different place that would replace both my CV Shafts and front differential for less than $3,000 with parts and labor. I also was running codes for EVap so I had them order Charcoal Canister. That was included with the price. The mechanic called saying that I needed to come in to talk about my car. He told me that the parts that Portage said that needed to be replaced, didn't fix the problem. I need a Transfer Case and Transmission. That's another $4,000. I was crying because I didn't have the $3,000 for the parts and now, I have to come up with $4,000 because Portage diagnosed my car wrong. Portage needs to get themselves better techs so people with tight budgets and only living off one paycheck every two weeks don't go into debt because of their mistakes. I still owe over $14,000 on this $25,000 car. I can't keep making these big payments because someone didn't know that my transfer case was spilling out rust and was the noise I was hearing from the video and the gears are slipping because my car shutters every time I hit the accelerator.

Customer states that another garage stated that she needed a transmission and transfer case.  Per our Repair Order (*******) dated 9/14/23, the vehicle came in for an alignment and an abnormal noise while driving.  As can be seen from that repair order, we noted that the abnormal noise was from the front differential and the left axle had play in it.  The CV shaft was also ripped open with no grease in it.  The transmission was inspected and we noted that the transmission fluid was overfull.  Per the repair order, customer was at ******* Motors previously to have the vehicle inspected.  We also noted multiple evap, O2 and CAT efficiency codes.  Customer declined all repairs at the time of inspection.  We did perform an alignment at the customers request and found front and rear camber are out of spec and would need rear camber bushing kits for rear and possibly front strut and control arm for the left side.  Customer declined all of the front end repairs as well.

In the customer complaint, customer stated she had another repair facility order a charcoal canister at her request.

Customer then states in her complaint that another repair facility performed work and did not verify any concerns.

If we would have performed ANY of these repairs at our facility and it didn't fix the problem, we would stand behind our work.  We were never given the opportunity to fix the vehicle and correct any of her concerns.

We, as a dealership, only rely on our diagnostics to fix and repair vehicles and then stand behind the work that we perform.  If other repair facilities do not do the same, then the burden of liability falls directly on that repair facility.

Vehicles are complicated pieces of machinery.  It is unfortunate that the customer is in this position but to reiterate, IF THE CUSTOMER would have proceeded with the repairs at our facility, we would be working with her to resolve her issues with the vehicle.  She went elsewhere to have the repairs completed and no one will ever know if those repairs were even completed correctly or if the proper working parts were put into the vehicle.

We are not offering any refund.  We completed the work and partial diagnostics per the customer request.

      Respectfully,

      *****************************

I purchased a 2016 2500HD Silverado. i had it less then a weeks . had them put new tires on the truck. the truck started pulling to the right. right after the new tires so i had them look at it to see why. after they had it over 2 hrs they told me to drive it to see if it would work its self out. i left drove about 50 miles and the Transmissions started slipping. so i pulled off when i could SAFELY. called them they had it towed to there shop. they told me the line was rusted they also told me when i asked why it was NOT put on the window sticker about it that they dont need to put that down . funny if you get a oil change they tell you about every thing . they put new line on they did pay for 1/2 . they called and told me that the Transmissions was SOLID but shifted in to 4 a little hard i picked truck up drove 10 mile home and cant drive truck Transmission slips bad i called them back and was told sorry they would put a new one in for over $8,000.00 i paid about $40,000 and had the truck less then 3 weeks put on less then ***** miles spent over $1,000 on tire and have a truck that pulls to the right and i cant drive. i asked before i purchased the truck if they checked it out was told bumper to bumper. i would think a big dealership like this would not sell a truck like this that is why i went to them. i think when they look at the tires they bumped them line and broken it that or it was bad when they sold . this is not right a big dealer can sell stuff like this and get away with it

I am a little confused and need a little more information about this complaint.  I cant find where a ********************* purchased or had any work done at our business.  Would you have a VIN?  Or is the vehicle in someone elses name?  His name is not in any of our system that I can find.

The customer also filed a complaint with the State.  We offered to pay for half of the transmission fix at a GM dealership.  We are waiting for an answer back.
