We brought our dog in for rabies observation two times. The first visit was on August 2nd and they charged us $90 for the first visit which took 5 minutes. The second time we had an adult friend bring him in because we couldn't. When he brought our dog in we sent our friend in with $90 in cash and he was told that the $90 we paid the first time covered both visits. When I brought my other dog in for a check up and vaccine on August 10th they charged me $95 for that visit and said we still owed $90 for the previous visit in August 5th. The office manager claims we owe an additional $90. She said it was $54 for an office visit and $36 for the rabies observation. First of all, they never did an office visit, only a rabies observation. After talking to a friend that works at another vet office she said that they only charge $30 for each rabies observation, so this office charged me $54 for services I never received. After refusing to pay the additional $90 they were trying to charge me after the fact, they sent us to collections to try to collect the $90. I did not receive a bill in the mail before we were sent to collections. The vet office has charged me $54 for services not received on August 2nd plus sent me to collections for $90 when I should only have paid $36 2. I am seeking a refund of $18 and for them to correct my credit report. My husband wants to pay it so it doesn't effect our credit score, in which case, they should refund us $108 and correct our credit report.Business response

The client was charged accordingly. We do require a brief exam fee for all rabies observation whether this takes 5 minutes to 20 minutes, this is the amount of time allocated for the Veterinarian to see the patient. This exam fee is indeed $54, the service fee to observe the pet is $36 for a total of each observation fee $90. The client stated her friend stopped at the reception desk to pay was not accurate, that male person never stopped at the front desk to inquire about a payment, but walked out the door with the pet. I have talked to both receptionist separately, both stated the male did not stop at the front desk to ask about payment. We document all price quotes, the client was not quoted a price for all 3 appointments for $90, in fact the first observation was made by the human officer, there was not a charge for this. I do not know what other area clinics charge for this service but this is in deed a service required by the state to make sure pet does not have rabies for the safety of all involved. Owner refused to pay, in fact she threw the money and the Dental estimate she received that morning for her other pet, at me and stormed out again, left without paying her bill. The receipt was mailed to client which showed the remaining balance of $90 on her account. I was advised by my boss/owner of the clinic to send to collections due to clients rude behavior. Client was also advised to look for a veterinary clinic that fits their needs.
