There were freezing temperatures not long after cement was poured. We will try to attach some photos but are not very good at technology. We greatly appreciate any help you can give us.If we have to have someone else do the grading, topsoil and seeding we would want Curtin Const. LLC to pay the costs. We also want the defective concrete to be replaced or repaired. A local contractor here looked at it and says it will continue to flake off more and more and you can tell by looking at it that it was rained on and "over finished".The beginning part of this message seems to be lost so we will try to repeat it: Last fall (2022) Curtin Construction LLC prepared our site for the placement of our manufactured home including a cement slab. Everything was delayed but eventually the cement was poured with only a week to "cure" before the home was set. A few autumn leaves sunk into the concrete/the concrete was too wet or ? It rained a bit not long after it was poured and it was not covered or protected in any way. The concrete is flaking off in places especially on the pad at the front porch entrance. They were supposed to come back to finish grading, bring in topsoil and seed. (also clear away debris, etc.) But they didn't return until Dec. 27, 2022 and were limited in what they could do. We were promised that they would return to finish in May or June 2023, but we are still waiting and they no longeer respond to emails or phone calls.

Business states they are planning on getting out to consumer's house next week (10/16-10/20) depending on weather. They will let them know of a solidified date soon.

The recent emails we received from **** Curtin/Curtin Construction are as follows:  On Sept. 18, 2023  "We will be down one week from today."   On Sept. 22, 2023  "We had a delay in house pour. Have to do on Mon. (9/25/23). We WILL be there next week."  On Sept. 27, 2023  "The rain has really messed our schedule up. I will try for a day next week."  There has been no word since Sept. 27.

We would also like to reiterate that we had two local contractors look at the cement at the front porch entrance and they both said the cement is defective and it was not caused by salt or deicer as **** Curtin/Curtin Construction is claiming. We paid Curtin Construction nearly $75,000.00 (not including upgrading the septic system which was another $22,000.00). They left us with a huge mess here requiring additional landscaping which they want to charge us more for. There is no fill or top soil here because they had it all hauled away at our expense. They were in too big a hurry to do things right. Then, they did not return until Dec. 27, 2022 when it was too late to finish the work. We were then told they would be back in May/June 2023. We are still waiting.

We still have no further word from **** Curtin/Curtin Construction. Needless to say this has been very frustrating and has caused us much ongoing anxiety.

Still no word from **** Curtin/Curtin Construction.
If they are not going to do the work we should be refunded the money we paid for it as we requested in our original complaint. We will send a photo of the contract page it is on. We dont know the exact amount as it is lumped in with other items.
Also we should be reimbursed for the defective cement at the front and side entrances so that they can be repaired or replaced. But, as of yet he doesnt want to stand behind his work.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

We do want to say that Curtin Constr.s refund offer in their email of 11/07/23 stated that they could try to get here in the next 10 days to finish the job, (It was already too late in the year to do that work, and they hadnt been able to accomplish it in the previous 12 months)
or they would send us a check for $2,500.00 to resolve the issue.
When we accepted the refund offer, our email of 11/13/23 stated that it was for black dirt, grading, and seeding only and did not address any other issues.
Curtin Constr.s refund check states that it is for black dirt and seed .
Our original complaint filed on 9/12/23 was re: the defective cement and skirting/air vents issues. At that time we thought we they still might come and do the black dirt/grading/seeding work.

      Regards,
