on 02/23/2024 i, *****************************, purchased and agreed to pay to rent a 5x5 storage unit at Sheboygan self storage. I paid for the unit itself, renters insurance and other 'administrative' fees which i myself was not opposed to and actually looked forward to it as i am moving very soon and this was going to be a big help. After securing up my vehicle full of boxes and moving items, i left to go drop off my items as normal but upon arriving there, it felt off in a sense. There was no employee vehicles or anything going on which i shook off thinking it might be a slow day. I approached both doors and not once did any of them work or open, i was informed on my first phone call with 'IT' support that there should be a keypad to enter through a gate, in fact there was no gate but rather a ramshackle looking door and no keypad. I went to the other door where inside through the glass window, there was a sign labeled office, but nobody was there. I left frustrated back to my house to call the aformentioned business number and i was then and only then notified that it is a remotely operated business with no physical employees other than 1 owner whom i was never given a number to call or an email to reach out to him or her. I stated to this "IT" employee that i would like a refund for ripping me off and lying to me about what was to come of this place. I have recieved two emails back from them in regards to 'thanks for moving out' and no refund given and again, zero information given to me about if its going to take 1 or 2 days or anything as a matter of fact. They are horrible people and i would like compensation for gas used to drive there and back, my whole transaction account and time paid to me for wasting my time even trying to deal with them.Business response

To begin this response, I would like to state that we are an unmanned faciliy. This is advertised online, on the phone, and there is a note in our contract. The tenant did show up and could not find the keypad. We do have a front door with a keypad that has individual codes assigned and is used by every tenant. This tenant could not find it and we initiated a full refund. We voided the payment which usually means the pending charge was just canceled and never withdrawn. Evidence attached. This is a self storage facility, I am on the 5th floor, elevator has not worked in weeks, I paid $200 today to have my items carried down the 5 flights I can not get my monthly/ monthly contract cancelled You really should look into this business.Initial Complaint

This is just not the condition of the place is not handicap accessible elevator works whenever it wants to very poor customer service never anyone on site except for once a week if that the personal issues are prorated rent money involving leaving the facility and reimbursement of stolen property from a unit that was not able to be locked properly -latching part of the unit to put your lock on did not latch properly ,could open the door of the unit even with a lock on.numerous times the elevator is locked and only access to your unit is the stairs so people that cannot do stairs can not get acess to their unit the actual door to the facility-( lock being broken) Not being properly secured like ad states &have 24hr access to your unit. The storage unit building is not accessible 24hrs
