I purchased a mini-Goldendoodle from Cedar Lake Doodles in ********, ** from ******************* in February, 2021. One year later, our male puppy is happy, healthy and outgoing. Four months after we purchased our pup, we had another addition to the family, I gave birth to a baby girl. We've had to be very thoughtful in prioritizing both our baby needs and our puppy's needs. In April, 2022 , we took our pup to be spayed at 14 months old. *** has a contract in place that requires puppies to be spayed at 8 months old, and at that time she will release the data for the microchip that was implanted in our pup at birth. According to the contract we signed, if you don't have your pup spayed by 8 months, she will not transfer the microchip over to the owner's name and address. A microchip is a unique identifier for your pet. Instead, the microchip will stay registered to her even though we own the dog and paid $2600 for him. I emailed ******************* our neuter certification document on April 29, 2022 and very sharply and ill-mannered she told us she would not transfer the microchip because we waited too late to get our dog spayed. When my husband emailed her again and told her we waited because we had to prioritize the care of our newborn, she didn't bother to respond to our explanation of a very valid reason for waiting longer than 8 months. We are responsible pet owners that got our puppy neutered at 14 months according to a timeline that was reasonable for a family with a new child. Most businesses give you a grace ****** for extenuating circumstances - like the birth of a child. We want ******************* to transfer our dog's microchip data to us because we are the rightful owners of the dog now, not her. Withholding the data is unreasonable and would not be in the best interest of our dog, and what breeder doesn't want the very best for their canine community? We want our dog's microchip transferred to us, he is neutered, and a member of our family. We should own all his records.

I am writing to follow up with my complaint involving Cedar Lake Doodles. I heard back from the owner of Cedar Lake Doodles, *******************. Her response is below. She says she will transfer our dog's microchip information if we take down the BBB complaint first. Is this possible? If so, can we disregard or cancel the complaint so that we can settle this. We just want our dog's microchip data and the business owner can transfer the information to our name in 5 minutes - it's simple. I'm so sorry to have had to go this far with a request that could have been settled quickly and amicably. Please let us know if we can take down the complaint and not move forward with it. Thank you.

      Best,
      *****************************

Hi, ****. Yes, please proceed with closing the complaint as being resolved and remove it from publication. Will you confirm with the business owner that these steps have been taken, or how will you, or I communicate this to her so that she can proceed with resolving the issue with our dog? Thank you for your assistance, ****.
