Cedar Fence installed 4/22/24. Upon inspection, fence was left with nails sticking out, cedar planks not flush or uniform all along fence, and worksite was not cleaned up after job completed. Wood siding was also damaged as a result of fence installation (see pictures for all) Worker came to residence same day to assess fence, and determined repairs were needed. Repairs made 4/23/24. Upon visual inspection by myself and contractor hired by me to inspect fence installation , same faults in the fence were not repaired (except nails that were sticking out), along with a gaping opening between fence door and fence that was not previously there. On 4/30/24, a gentleman identifying himself as the owner of river valley fence contacted me between 12-1pm cDT some 20 min after I posted a ****** review of services rendered. Said individual then stated he would come to my residence to inspect fence with me at 3:30pm 4/30/24. I waited 90 minutes, person did not present to home. I called business owner at 12:30CDT 5/1/24 to determine why he did not show up, he stated he had a job that he had to attend to. Owner reported he left a message stating he was not going to make it to residence, but admitted me might have called wrong number. I have no record of any calls from river valley fence on 4/30/24.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  Please see below as to specific repairs that need to be done as well as other suggestions

      1. 13 boards on fence are splintering. Please replace boards with uniform boards without splintering or other defects.

      2. Fence at front of house has a 25 degree downward slope south to north. Please level fence on front of home so that it is level, uniform , and has a proper aesthetic .

      3. Siding in the front of my home was damaged during install of southernmost post adjacent to garage. Please repair wood siding or remit a $750 USD stipend so that I can purchase materials and fix fence myself.

      4. Please make opening between gate and fence even from ground to top of fence. The second time your workers came to "make repairs" this gap has since unevenly increased, with a larger opening bottom>top

I would also recommend taking some pride in your work. Installing defective boards, leaving gaping spaces in fencing, leaving nails sticking out of fencing, and damaging homeowners siding leave a subliminal message of "I don't care. We got paid and that is all that matters."

      Regards,

We installed the fence to the proper degree.  If the fence is leveled on the side being discussed there will be gaps under the fence.  We always build fences to follow the grade like what was installed if we stair step it down the hill it leaves gaps on one end normally means it was a prebuilt panel from a big box store not what we install.   I sent in pictures of the siding and there isnt any scratches or damage from our post.  In the pictures u can see that it was damaged prior to them painting the house because theres paint behind the piece that hes blaming us for.   0ver 35 yrs of installs I have never had this kind of issue

Business will replace the boards that are splintered. Please **** them with an "X" so they are aware of which ones needs replacement. They will also trim the boards by the gate so that they are level.
