I board at FourB farm. On Sunday, March 3, my yearling filly was injured in a manner indicating negligence on the part of the farm owner. My daughter and I went to the farm to work with my yearling filly, Dancer, grooming and clipping her and then letting her have some run time in the indoor arena. She was a little warm. We left the farm about 11:30 AM. I asked the girls working at the farm if we should leave Dancer in her stall. ****** told me she needed to go outside, so I told her she needed to stay in for a little while as she was warm. ****** said she'd put her out. My daughter and I came back to the farm about 2:00 PM. ****** was running the fence line, obviously severely distressed by the owner moving large hay ***** with a bobcat. The people moving hay had to be aware she was panicked as they worked right next to her pen. I immediately brought Dancer into the barn. She was dripping wet and winded, indicating that she had been running for at least 30 minutes, as it was a cool day. ****** told me Dancer needed to stay outside as it was too early for her to be in but I put her in her stall. **** and I walked her cool, and noticed a small cut on her left front knee. I medicated the cut. By Wednesday, her leg was very swollen so I called Irongate vet. ****************** took x rays and recommended she go to ***********************, worried about fluid in the tendon sheath and the possiblity of infection. Thursday March 7 I took her to the vet school. Ultrasound indicated edema in carpal joint and tendon sheath, indicated that Dancer must have hit the fence hard, indicating that she was running fast. This injury should not have happened. When it was obvious that she panicked, she should have been brought inside. Instead, she was left running. If I had not returned to the barn, she would have been left running for another two hours. I want reimbursement of veterinary bills. UW--$726.13 Irongate--pending. March board can be a credit against bills.
