I hired KD Construction to add an edition to my porch, I did not know he was a dry ****** and not a builder. could not find him listed anywhere. KD has been in business two . I contacted them about problems with bottom of ramp and porch edition both were poorly done. cement at bottom of ramp is breaking up and boards are spongy.edition has many problems, stair rails are loose only being held in place by one s**** on each side, with large gap between stair rail an porch rail. decking boards have large gaps between them an soon are tight as should be. pieces of would split from screws and many on level spots, these are cause tripping problems. very poor constructions . I tried starting in March of 2022 to reach ****** of KD construction by Text, Email, and phone with no returns. His wife called me in Sept stating ****** would be in touch with me by Sept. 16 at which I did not hear again.I called and talked to his Wife again whom is part of the company and said I have not heard from ****** again. She than stated he would be here on Sept. 22, at 9:30 AM. He did show up but seen nothing wrong with his work. I made a an offer to settle which I felt very fair. he then stated He needed to talk to his wife.I have not heard back from either. As with all other they just ignore any contact with me. I have stated to both of them throw email this is not just going to go away, still have not heard from them.Business response

Regarding complaint of repair issues / desired settlement: billing adjustment-refund
In response to complaint ********, we, KD Construction, feel it is unreasonable to expect a refund or
reimbursement for any portion of the project. The deck was completed on Aug 3, 2021 (15 months
ago) and the customer was more than happy with the work and paid the final payment without
objection. The deck was stable and safe at completion.
There was an initial complaint made to Contact 6 on September 15, 2022 asking for the full $7,500.
Once we submitted the response to Contact 6, stating no refund or reimbursement, we received an
email directly from the customer stating that we were contacted and that I will give you a chance to
come here an look this porch extension before I do anything else. I would like to see pictures you claim
you took. I will be waiting to see you here.
After we met with him, he stated he wanted $4,000 back. After that we received another email stating
If I or anyone else receive an injury do to work done a problem will arise. I know a permit was never
pulled for the job as I have checked. I will take it you dont want to answer me which leaves me no
choice but to move to next step. this is not going away, if needed it will end up in court where full
amount plus court and lawyers will be sought.
The deck addition was properly built and no warranties or guarantees were/are in effect. At any time
during the building process, he could have stopped them and asked questions, pointed out what he
thought was wrong. But, again, at completion he stated he was very happy with the work and paid in
full.
As stated to Contact 6, KD Construction will not be refunding any portion of the project.Customer response

[Please type your response here.]I reject the answer, I tried to get them to answer complaint from March 2022 throw aug, ********************************* Work was poorly done, never did I say I was happy with work. Bottom of ramp was to steep, deck is poorly built causing problems with stumping. Many problems showing up with this work. I still would like a refund so I may have someone fix problems.

Following up on the customer response:The details keep changing-now the ramp is too steep. We did not build the ramp, only an addition to the existing deck and replaced the stairs.You, as the homeowner, have every right to ask the Contractor during the job any questions you have, point out things that dont seem right, and withhold final payment until the contractor fixes any issues.He now states he wasnt happy yet paid in full.As stated in our previous reply: we will not be issuing a refund of any portion of the payment.We are considering this matter closed with Contact 6 and the BBB.November 1, 2022

*****************There are more problems popping up with work that was poorly done, It will costme to have repairs or replacement done. I should not haveto pay another contracter to correct The problems with this addition and ramp. porch extentioi is an acctident waiting to happen, problems with clearing snow do to being so uneven. I still am looking for refund so job can be redone before someone get hurt falling.
