This is regarding an engine of mine delivered to ***** at Wausau engines by the shuttle truck from ******** auto parts in ********. The engine was received in the spring of this year. It is an engine block from a **** VW Bug. It needed basic machine work, and I also supplied most all the main parts he would need to do the job. This is a small engine, and the work to be done is minimal. I was promised the engine back initially at about a 1 to 1.5 month turn around time. It is now 5 months. I have contacted him probably close to ***** times about the status of the rebuild. I have received all kinds of different excuses, and promises of me getting my engine back. At this point I realize he is sitting on the engine and not doing anything. I request help in getting through to this individual, that I need my engine back. Enough is enough. He also does not call with any progress reports, and is totally non communicative. Help is greatly needed. *************************Business response

The engine is all together, he supplied all of his own parts. He never supplied bearings for this thing. I called him on the phone this am. Theres no warranty and no money inverted, this gets resolved today and he pays cash or I'm gonna take it all apart and put in a box and send it back to him. I can't get the pieces. I've got pictures. I have 50 jobs and I'm missing pieces for them all.

[Please type your response here.]When I talked with *****, he said he was waiting for a tool which he was having trouble finding. No mention of waiting for any parts. So apparently after waiting for over 5 months, he now tells me he can,t fix the engine. His story changes every time I talk with him. He is now very combative, and impossible to deal with. What kind of shop strings a customer along for this length of time, and then says I can't fix your engine? I want my engine back, complete with the parts I supplied. As I will now have to take the engine to another machine shop to have it finished, I owe him nothing. ******** auto parts will pick up the engine, as they were the ones who delivered it. If there are any more conflicts with Wausau Engine, I will have no choice but to explore other means to recoup my losses, I have incurred with dealing with this lunatic. If he has ruined the engine, the costs will include the purchase of a replacement engine. Sorry it has come to this, but I now see the type of person I've been dealing with. *************************

******************** dropped off his **** ** engine approximately at the end of May 2022 to an ********** store. I spoke with ********** staff who indicated the transport to my shop was about 4-5 days. ******************** wanted me to rebuild the ** motor; indicating it was a complete engine (it was not). ******************** did not tell me he would be supplying his own parts and after the engine was already in transit he stated he had sent an engine kit. I never indicated a timeline of completion, but expressed once it was done, I would call him. I disassembled the motor, cleaned the blocks and checked the sizing; which was in tolerance. When it came time to reassemble the engine I noticed he had not sent cam, main or rod bearings. I spoke to ******************** and explained that given the obscurity and year of the engine it may take a while to find all the required bearings. ******************** called several times a week once the engine was received at my shop to harass me about the progress. I received the first letter through the BBB around the end of September and I discussed with you (*************************) that I was still waiting for the aforementioned bearings to be delivered.
I spoke with ******************** near engine work completion and I explained I needed a tool to finish the work. I was able to secure the tool and complete the work the same day. The same day the engine was completed I received the second letter from the BBB indicating ******************** demanded his engine be sent back to him immediately via OReillys (the original mode of transportation). I again spoke with you (*************************) on 10/5/2022 stating the work had been completed and sent pictures via email. I asked you (*************************) to relay the message to ******************** that the engine was completed and he could come to the shop to pay for the work/parts in cash. I required cash due to ************************ behavior and concern he would cancel a card or check payment.
******************** did not come to my shop to pick up and pay for the completed engine, so I honored his request and sent his engine and all parts supplied by ******************** back to him through *********** on 10/14/22. I am not responsible for any delays in transit back to ******************** as he chose the method of transportation. ************************ engine was sent back to him disassembled and without the bearings I secured due to non-payment. ******************** stated he owes me "nothing", however the bearings were $200 and labor costs were $450. In the second letter, ******************** called me a "lunatic" and "combative". I do not tolerate name calling, false claims or harassment and would rather incur the financial loss then be subjected to further harassment from ********************* Throughout all of my conversations with ******************** I never indicated I could not fix the engine as ******************** claims. During my encounters with ******************** I have been open, forthright and honest about the status of his engine and work being completed. This 'complaint' is ******** and should be dismissed. I do wish him luck on finding another engine shop to complete the work he requests and hope he is more respectful towards them.
Sincerely,
*******************************

[Please type your response here.]I was never notified by ***** or the BBB, that my engine was completed. If it was completed, as he states, why did he not tell me so? In his first reply, he clearly states, he can't get pieces. What pieces, he does not say. When he called on the phone to say he had been contacted by the BBB, he said nothing about the engine being completed. The demand for cash, is also a very inappropriate way to do business. I used Wausau Engine 2X before, and paid my bills immediately. He also stated in his first response " No Warranty". Also very confusing. Any reputable shop warrants their work. Again this indicates the engine was either ruined, or not completed, for him to make that statement. He is continuing to be dishonest, and not forthright about what really happened. He states he has "50 jobs that need pieces". If that statement is true, which I doubt it is, it would prove that he is unable to finish a job, and leaves his customers sit. When he had his temper tantrum, he threw my new parts, which are very precision parts, ( lifters, crankshaft etc) into dirty boxes, unprotected. I expect him to pay for the parts he intentionally ruined in his fit of rage. I would ask we wait until I get a response from the machine shop the engine is at now, to see how much damage was caused by Wausau Engine to the block. The block is original to the car, and if damaged beyond repair, will be very costly as I stated previously. I will let the BBB know the status of the engine as soon as I hear from the machine shop. **********************;

After looking at my Receipt, the total is right with what wausau engine quoted, the money isnt the problem, theyve had the engine for over 5 years and its still not done.WHEN WILL THEY HAVE IT DONE ? and I will not pay for another rebuild, when there was only 40 some miles on the motor when it stopped working !! So my question is when is wausau engines completing the job of repairing the motor ??
