Contacted *** ********* on 2/12 to possibly fix or replace foyer lights. Stopped by on 2/13 and agreed to replace and said it would be cheaper if I had other projects to hire him for the day. Agreed on $2100 with tax to cover 8 hours labor, 9-6 in recessed lights in living room, 6-4 in recessed lights in stairwell and landings, 3-white single pole switches, 1-3 gang wall plate, 6-drop ceiling grids and 3-drop ceiling grid pieces. He asked if I considered replacing the dropped ceiling tiles so that they would match with what would need replaced with the new lighting that he could do that as well and I said I would need to check on pricing. On 2/15 I paid $1100 as I was asked for half up front. On 2/16 Mr. ********** said he was picking up materials and I mentioned I had looked at the price of dropped ceiling tiles ($45-50 for 10) and to go ahead and get them that I would need 21 full tiles and 14 half tiles for the living room. He showed up at noon and thought the foyer was completed, then moved to the living room. During discussion I began to ask questions in which I found this was his first time replacing dropped ceiling tile. Assuring this time I noticed fingerprints left on some of the tiles and some were cracked and mentioned they would need replaced. At approximately 3pm, I was told he needed to leave and would be back on Monday. I found this odd that someone would only put in 3 hours of work and leave abruptly but helped clean up to put my house in order. After him leaving, I began to inspect the work, while the electrical work was fine, expect fo rone light included that I did not ask for but was told it could be removed if I did not like it, the tiles were not completed and had holes and cracks, with all the work needing to be redone. On 2/18 Mr. ********* notified he he would not be able to complete the work on o day that he was sick and I explained about the workmanship not being up to par at which time he agreed. Per text agreed to refund and not paidBusiness response

I agree with every part of this except the fact that I’ve been negligent in any way.
On Friday Feb 16th, I had to make a trip to a general contractors house being finished up to get the water turned on. On my way back into town, I stopped to buy the materials for ** ******** job and arrived in Fairmont around 12:00 pm.
I advised ** ******** that I would most likely have to be back because I had our first advisory board meeting at **** ******** **** ****** for the electrical program at the school. I acknowledged the wrong cutting process and informed the client that I would gladly try to fix the tiles better.
The 3 hours worth of work there are billed as $125.00/ hr. She had 5 hours of labor and time left in the project before reaching that limit of $1,000.00 for the 8 hours. Over the weekend of Feb 17th, myself, my wife, and 3 kids all contracted and tested positive for Flu B as I advised to ** ******** that I wanted to and was willing to do whatever it took to make it right, and she denied and respectfully wanted to move on.
The lights in her foyer are operational and she stated that no problems lie in that, in which 1 1/2 hours was spent working on those.
The ceiling tiles total was $237.00 plus tax in which I told her I would gladly refund $350.00 to cover the materials I messed up. I have not paid her for those materials because I have been trying for the last 4 weeks to get a check from a general contractor I’ve done work for and have yet to receive it. I agree to pay the $350, the lights are still there at her house in operation and the unused new ones still there. I wanted to finish this job and clear my name, and apparently that’s not enough.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********* and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved. I would like a check sent to **** ******* ****** ********* ** ***** by the end of April 2024 which is more than an acceptable amount of time.
