I was scheduled for an EGD & colonoscopy on 11/1/2021. I had to be COVID tested by CCMC 72hrs prior to surgery, so I did my test 10/30/2021. I did my bowel prep on 10/31/2021. When I arrived at CCMC on 11/1/2021 at 7:30am, I was told I could not have my surgery; that my COVID test result was positive. I was never notified of the result, if I had been then I certainly would not have done a bowel prep. The test result even states, "Will call patient in morning". I had to call my employer and report the result which resulted in my being off work for several days. I received a phone call from the ******** ****** ****** ********** on 11/3/2021 stating the hospital made errors on the COVID tests causing false positives. My result was one of the false positives. I called the hospital lab to confirm and asked that they have someone call me in regards to making this issue right. I have yet to hear from anyone. I went through a bowel prep, had to be on clear liquids, and nothing by mouth after midnight; all for nothing. The false positive test effected everyone in my home, my co-workers, and I still have not had my EGD & colonoscopy. They bowel prep was over $50, I had to have a consult prior to scheduling the surgery, and 2 COVID swabs. I do not feel I should be financially responsible nor should my insurance provider. They were negligent and also very uncaring about my situation. I didn't even receive a call back stating they were sorry for what I had to endure. This is absolutely unacceptable.Business response

I have notified the Patient Advocate at Camden Clark regarding the patients concerns. She will be reviewing all the DOS that the patient has mentioned and will be reaching out to him directly to get the issues resolved as quickly as possible.
At this time no charges have been billed to the patient's insurance and the accounts are on hold until the Patient Advocate review is complete.
Sincerely,
WVU Medicine Hospital Billing Office
