I took my 2 seadoos to the dealership In April 2022 for a driveshaft and two oil changes I have called and called and they say parts are taking long and I found the parts for them and it’s been 2 years now and still I have nothing they are going to charge me for repairs I didn’t need I

      Business response

      03/27/2024

My name is **** ****** and I am the General Manager here at Swampfox Motorsports. I notice this says 2nd attempt when I logged into this complaint. If this correct I apologize but this is the first fax I have received on this issue.

*** ***** did drop his machines off in April of 2022. He did ask for the 2 Sea Doo machines to be serviced, and gone over to make sure they were in good running condition.

One of the machines is a 2010, and the 2nd machine is a 2014. *** ***** informed our staff that he thought the 2010 model had a drive shaft issue as he didn't think the prop was turning. He or someone had taken the 2010 machine apart prior to bringing it to us.

Additionally he brought my service department a couple of boxes of unlabeled parts requesting we install or rebuild. These boxes contained broken parts and after my technician attempted to rebuild he found several parts missing all together. Normally, this old of a machine would not be taken in for repairs as Sea Doo the manufacture, does not offer parts for machines 10 yr old or older as the parts become obsolete or discontinued.

Our technician started on the 2014 Sea Doo first. Once he began servicing the machine he realized that the Sea Doo was not communicating properly with itself. He then tried to plug the machine up to the diagnostics computer and realized that the machine had electrical issues due to the codes it had sent in the electronic control unit. This is a common issue when the cluster is not communicating to the ECU. This part was ordered however we later found it to be on backorder. This backordered part was not received until 12/28/2022. Due to the part arriving in the middle of winter, we winterized this unit and did not continue working on it until the weather warmed up. We de-winterized the unit and got it ready for *** ***** to have for the 2023 season.

This was all communicated to *** ****** and he said he would rather pick them both up at the same time. The problem was and is that the 2010 model needed more than a driveshaft. Again *** ***** never came to pick up his 2014 model which was ready to ride. The 2014 unit could have been used all of last season. I have attached the Repair Order, and as you can see the 2010 model has a long list of parts required to complete needed repairs.

Let me again state that the 2010 unit was delayed due to the boxes of parts brought to us which he or someone prior to us, had removed were either damaged, missing or incorrect parts for repairs.

We have done our best to locate and get the correct parts here for this machine. *** ***** did send us a new switch he found for the left switch housing but it was the wrong switch. We have ordered the correct switch.

We are now having trouble finding jets that go into the rear propulsion assembly as this unit is still not operational. Again this unit is older than 10 years which makes finding correct parts a challenge.

*** ***** has never reached out to me to ask me for any type of resolution or discuss his concern regarding these issues.

As you can see with the attached invoice Swampfox Motorsports has invested money, time and labor for these two machines which we have yet to recover.

We have not enforced any storage fees on the 2014 model Sea Doo that has been ready for a year now. Due to the 2010 model is still not operational I am willing to work out a resolution with *** *****.

I think a fair resolution would be he pay for the repairs and service on the 2014 model that has been ready for a year now, and then just pay for the new parts we have installed on the 2010. I will pay for the labor Swampfox has invested thus far into the 2010 model since it is still not operational.

The biggest reason for the delay on the 2010 is due to obsolete parts which we have not been able to locate.

It is our desire to complete all work in a timely manner however due to the inability to secure parts we have not been successful. We do not and will not install used parts on customer machines due to the liability. *** ***** may be able to find used parts and he or whoever took the unit apart initially can install them should they locate.
