On April 23 2024 my wife and I hired Burgess Paving and Sealing to widen and tar and gravel our driveway. First of all they put down recycled asphalt. I brought it up to ******* ******s he told me that was better then tar and gravel after it was put down. He charged us 3600.00. After 72 hours when we drove on it I noticed it had cracks and raised up spots in it. Burgess told us he would come back and put some more tar down if it was needed. We'll I called Burgess he would not answer his phone. So I text he and he told me that our driveway had no warranty and he did not want to come back and spray any more tar on it. Something needs to be done with these people to stop them from ripping people off. I will pray for the guys and hope *** will give them a change of heart so they will stop doing what they are doing.

Terry *** approached me with a deal on cnr road base. insinuating that there was only a small leftover amount and continued to try and upsell me. apparently, they had enough that they could have done my whole driveway. He did not tell me that the price quoted ( $7 per square ft) did not include all the costs. after laying much more paving material than discussed it cost me $5600. When I paid him, he told me he would be back the following Wednesday to put sealer on the driveway, never mentioning that he planned to charge me again. He did not show up, so I contacted him. he stated that he would be here another day and wanted to know if I would be here so that he could collect payment. That was the first i had heard about an additional cost. I choose not to have the sealing done; I had already paid them for the job. His words to me and I have this in writing was, I had only paid for half the cost of sealing the driveway which was $2532.60. If he had told me about all these costs up front, I would not have done business with them. Since, I have paid them for work they haven't done I ask for my $2560.32 back and of course I'm not getting it. Burgess Paving has very poor business practices including no signage on trucks, everything that I got in writing was by email no contract. BEWARE THESE PEOPLE WILL ***** YOU!

Incomplete and unacceptable surface on recently paved driveway. wavy and uneven, very thin is some spots with grass growing up through the asphalt. Kent Burgess / ******* ****** gave an invalid phone number, ************, on the contract signed between my wife, ***** ** ****** and Zachary ******. I could not contact them to inform them that we, my wife and myself, ***** ******, were not pleased with the outcome of the paved surfaces, and that they did not complete the driveway to the agreed upon length. Also, a business license investigation to make sure they are operating legally and ethically.

Hello Terry, Thanks for getting back to me. I don't have any other info other than what was written on the contract and the number I found here on BBB, which is what you have.  My son helped me do a ******** search on both **** ******* and ******* *****n, and we did find their ******** pages; my wife & I recognized them.  I will attach screen shots of their ******** pages.  That is the only other way I can think of to reach them. They live too far away, about 3 hours, for us to try to physically look for them. If I can be of any further help, feel free to call.  *************

      Thank you.

      Tommy.

On January 19, 2022, Burgess Paving and Sealing and ***** *** ******* ****** *** ******** came to do a paving job for me. They laid the underlayment (mater) and said they would be back the following day to lay the pavement over the mater. They never showed up. They were paid in full of $4700.00 and did not finish the job. I want the job finished or my money refunded. In researching, this company has another complaint against them for the same thing.

T**** *** *** **** Burgess owners of Burgess Paving and Sealing contacted me at my home wanted to asphalt my driveway while they were in the area. we agreed as the contract states on 4100.00 and comes with 5 year guarantee and one free tar coating. we received receipt paid in full and that they would return 11/17/2021. The next day. It was getting dark. The next day no one returned and we found hazardous material buckets thrown over the hill by contractor. Local Sheriff said i could collect the buckets and shovel up anything that dripped out. He advised me about asphalt scam companies. I contacted other clients in the area that used the same company. ****** ***** Motor Inn had the same complaints. To be fair, I contacted the contractor and agreed on a fair completion date and they would cleanup the buckets. After that date passed I contacted the contractor again and he says to sue him and there was nothing i could do to him being from out of state. Advice from local lawyers and law enforcement was for me to contact the Attorney Generals Office in West Virginia and Kentucky. we have filed complaints. ****** ***** motor inns owner and i have made numerous calls. The Secretary of State offices in West Virginia and Kentucky have no license on file for this company. The contractors actions shows an attempt to fraud homeowners and business of money by fraudulently misrepresenting their company. we have contracts, buckets and home surveillance video. my contract is not halfway complete and half of what they did is poor quality. This out of state contractor is truly running a scam in Eastern Kentucky. I hope this will put a stop to them. I hope the Attorney Generals Office can do something. ***** *** *** ***t Burgess and some of their workers all went to school together.
