I purchased two **** face creams. The friendly cashier Carol and I were talking. And I said oh, you can't see the expiration date on these- where Carol said she knew the lady who donated them and assured me that she was just 'getting out of the **** business' so I purchased two total. When i walked out to the car, I opened the plastic seal and the Goodwill price sticker is directly over the 8/2022 expiration date. I walk back inside and Carol says Goodwill doesn't do non clothing refunds. When i asked if they were going to remove the expired cosmetics, she said people who are desperate- wont be concerned with expiration dates. Why prey on those who are impoverished and knowingly continue to sell expired products?! And charge 5.99 eachfor the expired face product?! Theres easily 20 more on the shelf, and will be sold to unknowing customers, who have no idea its expired until after purchase and unable to return due to store policy.Customer response

I purchased a typewriter in a case under the impression that it was a manual typewriter. The store manager assured me that I had 5 days to return it with my receipt. However, upon closer inspection at home, I discovered that it was actually an electric typewriter and was missing the power cord. Made in 1978, I was unable to find a replacement for the missing cord. Upon further examination, I found missing screws and snapped wires inside. When I attempted to return the item, the store offered me store credit instead of a refund. I insisted on a refund due to being sold a broken and mislabeled product, but the manager refused and simply shrugged. Disappointed and feeling deceived, I gave the store credit receipt to the next person in line. I believe it is important for action to be taken either to address these issues at ******** ******* or to inform other customers about the potentially unethical practices occurring there.Business response

Attached is the return policy for all stores operated by Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio. This policy is posted throughout the store, and the same message is played on our overhead speaker system. The return policy states customers are issued store credit on returns of clothing only, if returned within 5 days with the tags on. Additionally, the exchange policy is printed on the bottom of each receipt.
Store staff reported the customer did ask about the return policy at the time of purchase and was advised of the standard policy. Customer returned within a couple of hours of purchase regarding the product not having a power source, and even though the standard return policy did not apply to his purchase a refund in the form of a store credit was issued. Products sold in our stores are donated items and as such sold as is. Revenue generated through the sales of donated items support 30 mission-based programs that help to remove barriers to employment, strengthen families, provide rape crisis services, support a hot meal site and more.
