This should not be included as a customer review, but rather a consumer complaint.
We do collection work on behalf of medical providers and have to confirm that we are in fact speaking with the correct party before disclosing any information about a debt or medical account.

We are in receipt of the consumer's request for information that was submitted as a customer review.
We have emailed the consumer at the email address provided in an attempt to determine if there is an account associated with that consumer. If we are able to identify an account, we will send the requested informaiton to the consumer.

this less than honest company insists we give them our address and demands money for a bill that is unknown to us. We believe they are trying to steal our money, which should be against the law. we would not give them the one star but no stars is seemingly not allowed for some reason.Review from Marie H

Received the same call as others asking for my address and DOB. I believe they are a scam. You would have to be a fool to provide your DOB and address to an unknown person with all of the fraud and theft happening. Debt collectors would tell you immediately what debt they are trying to collect. Run from these guys. BTW it is the same lady calling. She called twice. We would like to point out that this consumer is not a customer of Gulf ********************** but appears to be a consumer from whom we are attempting to collect and account from.
Federal law requires us to verify the identity of the consumer before we are able to reveal information about the debt to avoid disclosing information to someone other than the consumer who owes the debt.
We understand the consumer frustrations, however, compliance with federal law requires our confirmation of consumer identity before we can disclose information about the debt.

Received a call while at work, and when I answered the lady requested my personal information which I stated I was not comfortable giving out when I don't know who she is or what she was calling for, to which she replied quite rudely "Well, you're in collections, this is Gulf Coast Debt Collectors and you can look us up. I never thought I would be writing a positive review for a debt collector lol. So *************** I had an outstanding medical bill from an emergency hospital visit about eight months ago. After receiving a few phone calls and voicemails, I did a re-search and determined that gulf coast collection Bureau was indeed, a legitimate company, trying to collect a legitimate debt that I was unaware of. I spoke to a gentleman named ******, who is very polite and open minded in assisting me with taking care of this debt. I might oblige me with the opportunity to schedule a payment for the following week when the funds became available in my account. I was able to call ****** back and get my debt paid in full along with confirmation via email and regular mail. Thank you ****** and Gulfcoast collection Bureau for kindly assisting me in a professional manner in regards to settling this debt info. Received a call from this company, not sure who they are nor why they called me. When I called they were wanting personal information without telling me anything. With all the scammers out there the message they left, and the way they presented themselves when I called I couldn't trust this call.Gulf Coast Collection Bureau, Inc. Response

GCCB calls consumers regarding personal business matters that can only be disclosed to the person we are seeking to reach. Identifying information is requested to confirm a person's identity before any personal information is disclosed. It appears Mr. ****** ultimately discussed and resolved this matter with GCCB. We apologize for any inconvenience and can appreciate the concerns raised.
Hopefully using a reputable third party like the BBB helps in differentiating the scammers from the callers with legitimate business
