BBB Business Tip: Is your blind side protected?
Football is back! (Getty Images)
We are inching nearer and nearer to the start of the next football season. Regardless of what team you support, there is always excitement that comes with a new season. Rookies, trades, returns from injury, new coaches; they all add up to create hope for success. But, as the coaches and players from the BBB Accredited Dallas Cowboys can tell you, it takes time for a team to come together and work as a cohesive unit.
A team-first mindset isn’t something that comes naturally to a player or even to the average person on the street. It’s something that must be cultivated and grown. One can dedicate their lifetime to growing in this way.
With kickoff approaching, we at Better Business Bureau Serving North Central Texas have been thinking about our role in the marketplace. You see, BBB is not an organization that places an “I” in “team.” For over a century, BBB Accredited Businesses have put our commitment to doing business ethically ahead of their bottom lines. This can’t be demonstrated any better than by the actions of the offensive line on a football field. Very few casual fans could name the starting offensive linemen on their favorite team. Beyond their own team, few die-hard fans could name linemen around the league. But without the offensive line protecting the superstar, big-name players, football would be a different game.
If you consider the marketplace, consumers are the skill players. Consumers are the quarterbacks, running backs, and receivers. They go out and take risks by spending money within the local marketplace. These risks leave them exposed and unprotected, but BBB Accredited Businesses step in and protect consumers.
When we play as a team by doing business with BBB Accredited Businesses, we protect our local money. We protect local families. When businesses commit to uphold the Better Business Bureau Standards of Trust, they join the team. They dedicate themselves to protecting their community, even if it costs them something. For that, we at BBB are so grateful to our Accredited Businesses. We see their sacrifice and know through our collective efforts, our communities are safer.
BBB encourages all consumers to stay in the pocket. Protect your money by doing business with BBB Accredited Businesses. And to our local businesses, BBB encourages you to join the team by becoming an Accredited Business. When we come together, our community benefits. Our team wins!
