What value does Better Business Bureau (BBB) Accreditation provide to businesses, exactly? A 2024 IABBB survey with 13,000 responses from Accredited Businesses asked just that.

Here’s an inside look at what value BBB Accreditation provides to thousands of businesses.

BBB Accreditation is a credibility booster for businesses.
Underscoring BBB’s mission of trust, 87% of responding Accredited Businesses agreed that Accreditation helps their businesses gain credibility with their customers.

Furthermore, reputation, trust, and integrity are the top three driving forces behind BBB Accreditation. When asked about their top reasons for being BBB Accredited, respondents said they are Accredited because it quickly identifies their business as reputable, builds trust with customers, and demonstrates integrity in their business practices.

The BBB Seal matters in marketplace transactions and plays an impactful role in helping Accredited Businesses stand out among their competitors. The BBB Seal is The Sign of a Better BusinessSM and helps consumers quickly identify trustworthy businesses. In fact, nearly 90% of Accredited Businesses we heard from said the BBB Seal adds value to their business.

In addition to the BBB Seal, BBB Accredited Businesses find value in several other BBB services. When asked about the value of BBB services to their businesses, over 80% of responding Accredited Businesses said that BBB customer reviews, business profiles, and complaint resolution services have good value. Better yet, over 90% of respondents identified BBB Ratings as the most valuable BBB service.

Survey results indicated that Accredited Businesses also find value in BBB itself. Over 70% of responding Accredited Businesses agreed that BBB is a helpful business resource and 77% agreed that BBB helps connect customers to trusted businesses.

The IABBB survey also asked Accredited Businesses about their main challenges for 2024. The top three challenges indicated by responding Accredited Businesses were (1) managing increasing costs, (2) growing the business, (3) and hiring and retaining employees.

Overall, BBB Accreditation is a valuable asset to businesses, with 75% of responding BBB Accredited Businesses agreeing that Accreditation is a good value and nearly 70% agreeing that it has positively impacted their business in some way.
