Better Business Bureau of Chicago and Northern Illinois Announce 2024 scholarship winners

The Better Business Bureau of Chicago and Northern Illinois is proud to announce the 2024 video scholarship contest winners. The contest is open to high school seniors and college students seeking money for further education (community college, university, master’s level, and trade schools).

Steve J. Bernas,  president and CEO of Better Business Bureau of Chicago and Northern Illinois says, “We are excited to offer an exciting, creative, and fun opportunity for students to receive one of seven $2,500 scholarships that focus on trust and ethics. This year’s winners have really excelled in their creativity and content, and we are very proud of their well thought out and heartfelt entries.”

For this year’s contest, students were asked to answer the following prompt: BBB Accredited Businesses pledge to uphold 8 Standards of Trust, which embody ethics and integrity. Choose one, state what it means to you, and explain how it contributes to a healthy, vibrant marketplace.

The video winners include:

  1. Jenna Carpenter from Loves Park, IL, is a Illinois State University sophomore. 
  2. BriZil Stewart from Homewood Flossmoor, IL, a Homewood Flossmoor High School graduate, will be attending Southern University A & M.  
  3. Addison Torgerson from Orland Park, IL, a Orland Park High School graduate, will be attending the University of Illinois at Urbana.  
  4. Malik Wells, a Forest Park, IL, graduate of Proviso Math and Science Academy, will attend Illinois State University at Springfield.  
  5. Precious Cole from Chicago, IL, is attending Harold Washington College.
  6. Delilah Lott, a West Aurora High School graduate from Aurora, IL, will attend North Carolina A&T State University.  
  7. Aliyat Egbebi, from Wheeling, IL, attends DePaul University in Chicago.
