Companies honored for ethical business practices in 2024 BBB International Torch Award for Ethics

The International Association of Better Business Bureaus (IABBB) announces the winners of the 2024 International Torch Awards for Ethics.  
 
Four businesses are receiving recognition for their outstanding commitment to leadership character and organizational ethics. Winners will be honored at a special event in Minneapolis, MN on September 11, 2024. The 2024 winners are: 

  • Category 1: Price Roofing Company 
  • Category 2: Precision Tax Relief 
  • Category 3: Thrasher Foundation Repair 
  • Category 4: Omaha Steaks 

Presented annually since 1996, the BBB International Torch Awards for Ethics recognize businesses in North America that maintain outstanding dedication to upholding ethical business practices and promoting trust in the marketplace.  

“The International Torch Awards for Ethics is one of the most important programs we do,” said Kip Morse, IABBB CEO. “BBB sets standards to make trust a fundamental component of the American marketplace, but these businesses are out there every day making it happen. By awarding them the 2024 International Torch Award for Ethics, we are demonstrating to the business community that adhering to Better Business Bureau ethical standards is the hallmark of successful, competitive companies.”

Price Roofing Company, Amarillo, TX 
Price Roofing, established in 1978 by Cecil Price, is a company based in Amarillo. It has consistently adhered to its principles of integrity and quality through the years, despite changes in the industry. This approach has resulted in a solid customer base and the completion of numerous roofing projects in Amarillo, Lubbock, and the Texas Panhandle. 
Price Roofing Company is a 2020 and 2024 Torch Award for Ethics recipient from the BBB of Amarillo.

Precision Tax Relief, Coeur d’ Alene, ID  
Since 1967, Precision Tax Relief has been offering expert tax services with a seasoned team of professionals who average 20 years of experience. Thrasher started as a small family business in Iowa and transformed into a company that employs hundreds of hardworking individuals across multiple Midwest locations. Thrasher Foundation Repair is a 2023 Torch Award for Ethics recipient from the BBB of Midwest Plains.

Omaha Steaks 
Omaha Steaks, originally a small butcher shop in Omaha, expanded after 1929 through partnerships that introduced the brand to dining cars and troop trains, earning it national fame. Pioneering mail-order sales in 1953 and rebranding to Omaha Steaks International in 1966, the company gained international acclaim. Today, they maintain their reputation as a top meat provider by embracing an omnichannel marketing strategy that ranges from traditional customer service to modern digital platforms. Omaha Steaks is a 2023 Torch Award for Ethics recipient from the BBB Midwest Plains.

The finalists and award-winning companies were selected by an independent panel of business and ethics experts: Matt Sitter, CEO, Advantage Foundry Network; Fred Elsberry, former CEO, BBB Atlanta; Parag Shah, Chief Ethics Officer, Nationwide; Kent Noble, Professor, University of Wyoming College of Business-Center for Principle-Based Leadership and Ethics; Robert Reiss, CEO, CEO Forum Group; Phil Catlett, former CEO, BBB Western Michigan; Robin Day, National Director of Academics, Herzing College (Winnipeg, MB);  John Fons, Fractional Corporate Counsel & Compliance & Ethics Advisor, Fons Law Group; Tamara Chase, CEO, Chase Roofing; and Nelida (Nelly) Palmer, Vice President of Business Development, Brickell Capital Finance.  

Companies were evaluated against four criteria including the Character of the organization’s leadership; if and how an authentic Culture is being fostered; the company’s transparent relationship with its Customers; and the impact the organization is making in the local Community.
