    Complaint to BBB:

Jet Patcher was contracted by the city of ********* to do roadworks on rotary drive in *********. These road works were done on July **** with no notice given to the residents of rotary drive that there would be road works completed. during the work my car was parked on the side of the road. my car was completely covered in hot rocks and tar. I reported the damages to the ***** the City of *********, Jet Patcher and ICBC. The current estimate for the damages is $*********. I have been trying to contact *********** since the date of incident and no one has contacted me back. **** is stating that they are only going to cover $******* worth of the damages to my vehicle. I am trying to get my car properly fixed with the right party (Jet Patcher) being held responsible for these damages.Respectfully in response:Further to your email communication from Wednesday August ****, 2024.I would like to clarify the situation with you before and if Jetpatcher decide to post anything onto the BBB platform. After reviewing the email with pictures from the complainant and discussing the complaint with the City of *********, Jetpatcher did reach out by phone call to the complainant on August 9th, 2024, the day after receiving a complaint on August ***, 2024, in email format with pictures. The City of ********* did take precaution by placing road signs out on the road as a warning of roadwork being performed and had a crew of trucks with high visibility beacon lights and flaggers with high visibility clothing accompanying Jetpatcher with the project. The claimant claims the vehicle was completely covered in rocks and tarJetpatcher does not use hot rocks or hot tar. The vehicle was not covered in rocks and tar or damaged in any way by Jetpatcher operations with performed work on the road passing the vehicles driver side. With the phone conversation Jetpatcher had with the claimant the claimant claimed the following:The Claimant claimed:Asphalt rocks melted into plastic of carFront grill window visors damagedRear bumperWipersCovers for cross rails of roofAsphalt melted into body kitRocks melted into head lights and taillightsAll away around the car, front, back left and right of the vehicle was damagedJetpatcher does not work with hot asphalt.Jetpatcher provides spray patching services which is very different from working with hot asphalt, the oil from the Jetpatcher units comes out at +-40C which is impossible to melt plastic. Jetpatcher uses 7mm stones which does not fly up to any height like described to damage a vehicle in any possible way.The City of ********* mentioned that the damage caused identified from the pictures shows damage caused by winter stones used in **, a ******************* which probably caused the damage to the claimants vehicle whilst driving on the BC roads through the winter. In the winter the use of Winter Sand (Salted) as per the Ministry of Transportation & Infrastructure specifications is a 9.5mm rock. This product is used on highways and the city of *******************Pictures shown is after date of accused but no before pictures, appears hard to determine what would be wear and tear.Mismatched touch up colour paint from pictures, where is the car covered in tar or melted ?Pictures arent consistent with what is claimed. There were no complaints from any other residents on the street with vehicles parked on the same road when work was performed. The complainant did not see Jetpatcher at work at the time damage apparently occurred, as the complainant was at work.Mismatched touch up colour paint from pictures, where is the car covered in tar or melted ?Pictures arent consistent with what is claimed. The complainant claimed he saw the Jetpatcher crew at work on his way back home from work, and the Claimant described the Jetpatcher equipment as black in colour. Jetpatcher equipment is bright yellow in colour, not black. The claimant claims he never saw flaggers or safety vehicles when work was performed, which is not true as mentioned, there was safety vehicles and flaggers at the time of operations.Based on reviewing of the information provided, Jetpatcher does not see the damage claimed caused by Jetpatcher operations possible. With the method of patching used, it was impossible for the spray patching on rotary drive passing 616 rotary drive to cause the damage to the vehicle described by the complained. The oil coming out of the nozzle from the Jetpatcher equipment reaches a maximum of +-40C and cools down immediately when reaching the road surface. It is not possible for the oil to melt any plastic of any sort. The oil coming out of the nozzle does not splatter up, as it binds immediately into the road exiting the spray nozzle, and the spray nozzle is held at a maximum of ******************************************************************************* even head or taillights or roof of a vehicle as described by the complainant. As a precaution to warn the public of road works, very visible Traffic accommodation was setup by the City of ********* with very visible safety trucks and a crew of flaggers directing traffic.Signs was installed by the City of ********* showing roadwork ahead. On the pictures of the claimed damaged on the vehicle it is very clear that the damage shown is damage from a previous incident, as some of the areas can clearly be seen touched up by red paint running as drying and inconsistency of different red paint in colour. It is impossible for spray patching taking place on the drivers side of the vehicle to damage the vehicle at the front, back and passenger side including the roof of the vehicle.Chip damage at the front of any vehicle usually happens when driving at fast speeds with leading vehicles throwing chips towards vehicles following. The information provided by the complainant is very inconsistent with the job site events and method of patching taking place on July ****, 2024.
