    My move with LaPorte Moving and Storage was AWESOME. Not only were my personal effects handled with care, my furniture was also dismantled for me and rebuilt for me in my new home, which I greatly appreciated. I was originally apprehensive choosing to hire packers, as I have a fragile crystal ********** that belonged to my recently late dad that I was worried about, but they were so professional I ended up feeling at ease and was grateful not to have to pack things myself. Definitely would recommend LaPorte to anyone needing help with a move!

    LaPorte moving is the most despicable business I have ever dealt with. They have a very simple business model - brilliant sales pitch writeup, following a casual estimate completely unrelated to what needs to be done and accompanied customer service that is outstandingly useless. In my case, the actual job took more than double the time quoted. I paid more than if I were to trash everything they moved and buy everything new. They will not live up to their estimate because it simply does not mean anything. The sole purpose is to win your business with no regard for basic business decency. So sad, so low.

    My husband and I have moved 5 times during our marriage, and the experience with this company was the absolute worst. When the employee doing the estimate on our move (can't remember his name), proposed a 7 ton truck, I repeatedly said we needed a larger one. He responded that "boxes don't matter" because they can be stuffed into any holes between furniture. Predictably, on moving day, the truck they sent was far too small - ridiculously small. The moving crew (no shade on them, they were lovely and hard working) was only 3 people when we were told we would have 4. Also, 2 of the 3 were quite old and not physically up to the task of carrying our oversized furniture. The move was going so slowly that my ** **** *** son and I ended up carrying 90% of the boxes up from the downstairs while my ******** daughter spent her morning bringing boxes down from the top floor. My husband, meanwhile, spent most of his time on the phone arguing with a LaPorte employee who kept stonewalling us and not offering any solutions. I felt so badly for the family moving in as most of our belongings were still in the house when they showed up with their ***** to move in. Luckily, they were gracious and didn't give us a hard time about it, even letting us pack our stuff in the empty ***** (for a fee) when it was clear the original moving truck would not have the space to accommodate all our stuff. In addition, I ended up having to make 2 trips to the new house with my *** packed to the gills. All in all, an aggravating and exhausting day. My husband and I understand that things happen and wouldn't be complaining at all if we had been offered a sincere apology and acknowledgement of LaPorte's error. A reimbursement of the money we spent to borrow the new owner's ***** wouldn't have gone amiss either, but LaPorte continues to place the blame for this monumental screwup on us. I will never use them again and will actively dissuade anyone I know from using their services as well.

    Original quote was high but we chose LaPorte because Jessie seemed the most thorough. We paid packers come to pack "breakables and kitchen dishes" as well as wardrobe boxes for closets. Move went well. We paid LaPorte extra to hold our belongings for 2 weeks. Note: when delivery was confirmed LaPorte had the wrong house address. Items were delivered on time. When we unpacked we found a box labelled "pictures and dresser stuff". We did NOT ask for dressers to be pack. In fact, I specifically asked if i had to pack them I was told no.The dressers can be left "as is", the movers would stuff them with paper. We emptied the box labeled pictures and dresser stuff to find only a few items to be in it. The entire night stand was empty as well as the top drawer of the dresser. The other dressers and night stand we packed with paper as discussed. We continued opening boxes expecting to find the remaining items missing from the dresser/night stand.We did NOT. Sentimental items are gone. Items from my ******** dad. We contacted LaPorte, was told to submit a claim. We submitted a claim and also requested that our empty boxes be picked up. I was told they would ONLY pick up boxes "they packed" and the boxes "we packed" I would have to deliver back. Then I was told with a short haul they do not pick them up. A local company was arranged to pick up boxes to which we paid an additional $100. Laporte gave the wrong address to this pick up company. Our claim was processed and they refused to reimburse us the amount claimed. Instead, offered to give back the extra insurance premium I paid. They declined further reimbursement because "they only packed breakables and kitchen items" and "there is no proof the items lost existed." I sent a photo of the box labelled "pictures and dresser stuff" showing it was packed by their employee. The refund of the extra insurance I paid is sufficient they said. It is NOT. I would rather have my dads things.The refund chq went to wrong address.
