Coming home from work, my key broke in the car lock. I had already bought a spare uncut key, so I just needed it cut. He tried upselling me the moment he got out of his van. I denied all of it and asked him to just cut my key like how my old key is. He intentionally miscut the key multiple times so that it wouldn't work. I matched it with the old key, the shapes didn't match at all, but he kept arguing with me saying that it was correct and that they key itself was the problem. I would have to buy one of his 'special' keys. I had already paid him $100 cash at this point for the key cutting. He then gets his ********** key (I drive a *********** and tells me that this will definitely work. We agree to payment specifically for THAT key, IF it works completely like my old key does. My old key has the key, of course, and an attached fob with door lock, door unlock, and trunk open buttons. In the process of cutting that, he messed up and breaks it and has no more ********** keys. He grabs another generic key, and messes that one up too. He grabs a third key, after about an 1 -1.5 hours (this whole ordeal was around 3-3.5 hours!?) he finishes and says it's done. I pay him, then realize ************** button on the fob does not work! It fires the car alarm instead!? My trunk can't open now, my car does not have an exterior lock for the key, only fob lock. He also swung my car door open and hit the car next to me too. I left a ****** review detailing my negative experiences, and he replied back saying it was all lies and I must be talking about another company? This business seems like a scam preying on desperate people. People lose their keys, or they break, they can't get to work in the morning, so he arrives and scams them, upselling them on simple jobs, cutting corners wherever possible, and not even doing the job that was agreed upon. A refund would be nice, but mostly reporting a potential scam/immoral business practices. My experience felt like extortion.

      Dear Complaint.

I found the record for the job, you called me around 6:30pm September 19,2023, told me you broke you key and can not drive you car, we got to you home at ****************** ****** to help you make a new car key. it happened over half a year ago. If you have any questions or not satisfaction, Why don't you call me next  day or in a week? Why you post some bad review online and sand a  BBB complain without call me directly? Why you use the key I made drives the car over half year then ask for refund?

We will try our best to help you if you are not 100% satisfaction. but the car key has custom made and programed to you vehicle, it can not be refund. but we have 3 month warrantee on the keys we made, for you we can offer you extend warrantee: we can fix the key free of charge!

We give you the price over the phone before we came out to you. you agreed on the price. when we work on it find out it very difficult because it is special model of *********** but we work hard for 3 and half hour in the night try to make you car running, finally make it! we are the best locksmith around, you should applicated that!

Without our efforts, you may spend $150 to tow the vehicle to the dealership wait 2 days spend $500 for a new key plus you lose of you work days. you save a lot!

      Complaint: 21455545

I am rejecting this response because:

Company has called me twice just to complain and try to sell me more of his services. I do not want his service or keys, he was not able to do it the first time, it was the worst company experience I've ever had, and he even hit my car door into the car next to me because he didn't care. He makes it out like it was some noble act that he was here until 8:30pm at night, but it only took so long because he kept messing up the keys over and over and over again, then at 8:30 he got frustrated and just gave me a key that doesn't work and demanded money for it. He says we agreed to price on the phone? That has nothing to do with the fact that the product I received is not what was agreed upon. Also, the price on the phone was for the key I had that I wanted him to cut, which he intentionally cut wrong so that he could sell me one of his horribly overpriced $350 keys. My car does not have any sort of aftermarket ignition or key system like he's talking about, it's stock except for the radio, which has nothing to do with the fob-lock mechanism. The only reason I accepted the key at all was because I needed to go to work the next day and he took so long I had no where else to call because they were shut for the night. After a while I received a ****** notification asking if I wanted to leave a review for the business. I did, and after his awful, unprofessional response calling me a liar and insisting I was talking about another business, I showed friends and family and everyone unanimously agreed it sounded like a scam/immoral business practices and to report it to the BBB, which is what I did. If he doesn't want to give a refund, that's fine, I'm more than happy to leave the complaint on here forever as a warning to not use this predatory business. I have documented proof that it was his company, so trying to hide my review by calling me a liar saying it was another company just shows that he's being shady and can't be trusted. Everytime he calls me, it's just lies and trying to peddle more c*** on me and then he starts saying I'm trying to scam him???

      Sincerely,

      *************************
