Complaint Against General Credit Services Lack of Debt ******************* Charges To the Better Business Bureau,I am filing a complaint against General Credit Services (GCS) for failing to provide proper debt validation and transparency regarding additional charges on a debt they claim I owe.Details of the Complaint:GCS contacted me regarding an alleged debt from ***** Wireline, stating that I owe different amounts as per different agents emails i have been receving.I have repeatedly requested a detailed breakdown of the additional charges, as well as proof that GCS has the legal right to collect this debt.Instead of responding to my request, GCS has ignored my inquiries and repeatedly transferred my case to different agents, none of whom have provided the requested documentation, its been now 5 different agents, AND CALLS AT ANY HOURS OF THE DAY WHICH IS HARRASEMENT.CALLED ***** AND THEY DIDNT AUTHORIZED TO CHARGE ADDITIONAL FEES This behavior appears to be an intentional delay tactic to pressure me into paying a potentially unjustified amount without proper validation, IM NOT PAYING ANYTHING UNTIL PROOF IS GIVEN Desired Resolution:I request that GCS:Provide full disclosure of the charges, including a detailed breakdown of the additional interest fees.Provide legal documentation proving that GCS has the right to collect on this debt.Cease collection activities until they provide proper validation of the debt.Issue a formal response to my inquiries, rather than cycling through agents without answering my requests. If GCS cannot provide proper documentation proving the legitimacy of the debt and additional charges, I request that the BBB hold them accountable for their lack of transparency and potential unfair collection practices.I appreciate your assistance in resolving this matter.Sincerely,Zyanya ******* **********

I have been dealing with this very suspect company since July of this year regarding an issue with my credit report on Credit Karma. While doing my weekly review on Credit Karma I was shocked to see a collection notice from General Credit Services on behave on ***** in the amount of four hundred and ninety dollars Canadian. I subsequently called ***** direct to inquire about this claim and they informed me it had to do with an outstanding balance from when I closed my acct during my move from ******** to ******* in the spring of two years ago. I informed them I had never received a final invoice at that time ( I had put the customary Canada Post six month move notice on my mail), but I asked if I could up the outstanding balance with them or if I had to deal with General Credit Services directly. ***** informed me I could pay them and I would just have to provide proof of payment to them (General Credit Services) transaction. After clearing the matter with ***** via M/C credit card, I contacted General Credit Services from the contact information on their Website & was asked to provide Proof of Payment. I subsequently did and assumed the matter was resolved. As today December despite four E-Mails that include all previous correspondence (and cc'ing copies to my lawyer) requesting they remove this blemish from my Credit Report. it still remains listed in the Collection Section and they have even increased the amount owed to approximately six hundred and eleven dollars. Its obvious they do not play by the rules or by the provincial laws that are currently in place and feel they can do whatever they want even if it unfairly effects a person's image or reputation to potential ******************* Institutions.

We are sorry to hear that you have not received a response to your emails. Please email a screenshot of this account as it appears on your credit report to ************************************** and I will personally investigate this matter and update your credit report. Please note that once a collection item is appended to your credit report, General Credit Services will update your balance within 30 days of your payment. If you pay in full or accept a settlement offer the balance will be updated to $0.00 owing and remain as a paid account on your ********************** report for a period of 6 years from the date of payment. General Credit Services does not engage in the practice of removing collection accounts on consumer ********************** reports unless there is an error. Lastly, ***** accounts accrue interest at a rate of *****% on all late payments as detailed in their agreements. General Credit is mandated to calculate this interest and remit to ***** when a payment is received. If you think that we have not followed credit reporting regulations in your province we recommend that you consult with Service Alberta who is the regulator in your province.

These people are criminals. I started getting phone calls from them telling me that I had been referred to them as a collection agency from ************. I had recently transferred my services from them to ***** and I hadn't even received my last bill from Koodo yet. Not only that but they were asking for twice the amount of what I actually owed on my final bill. When I called Koodo they assured me that I had not been sent to collections although General Credit insisted that they were a real company and that I had been. They were trying to get me to eat transfer their money. When I phone the company you just get an answering machine with no disclaimers or anything and it seems very fishy and very scammy. I am so glad that I phoned my service provider to verify that I had not been sent to collections even though I knew that it was not true. They kept bothering me until I finally told the one lady off and I told her that they belonged in prison for what they were doing.

We are sorry you have not been able to speak with someone to clear up this matter. We are a licensed collection agency in your province, and you can contact your local consumer protection office for assistance and verification. Before taking that route, I recommend that you write to ************************************** and ask for copies of your statements showing the past due amount in collections. If you owe any money to your provider (our client), you can pay them directly or we can manage that payment for you. When payment is received, we can provide you with a receipt and/or a letter of release.

The response from General Credit is way off base from what my experience was. I was never in collections. My provider has been paid. I was getting emails and phone calls asking me to eat transfer an amount that was double what I actually owed my provider and my provider verified that I was not in collections. That's what the problem was I was being asked to pay double what my actual bill was before it was even issued as my final bill by my provider. General Credit collections was either scamming me or was doing it illegally. When I tried to phone their office I get an answering machine with no information on it just a beep to leave the message after. This is why I gave the review because I had already verified my information Thank you

Despite previous calls from General Credit Services where I explained that I am not the man with whom they keep asking to speak and requested that my cell phone number be removed from their system, employees from this company still continue to call me. This feels like **********, especially since these employees always assure me that my number will be removed from their lists. This has yet to be done. How many times does someone have to deal with this kind of persistent pursuit by a debt collection company?! What will it take for them to cease and desist ********* a person who isn’t the man being sought?! Enough is enough! My next move is to contact the ******* ************ ** ** as well as any other appropriate governmental department to lodge a complaint in order to get some support and protection. As for any excuses about their computer system or whatever, they can save it! Their job is to handle their computer program issues and stop ********* other innocent folks asap!

We are sorry to hear that someone had or used your phone number on their account. In addition, that person may have multiple accounts which can explain why our employees tell you they removed your number, but you keep receiving calls. Definitely not pleasant for you and extremely nonproductive for our company. I'm curious to understand what happened here. Please email me at ************************************** with the number we dialed and the name of the person we asked for. That will help us resolve this issue and stop the calls to your phone.

      Terrible organization and communication! I contacted asking for email to pay the full amount in collections. Took 4 days just to get that email, in which they added DAILY interest on the debt. Finally, once I had the email, I made a payment via my online banking using their instructions. Over a week later, still no payment conformation on their end, emailed asking for it, and they say the payment hasn't gone thru. Call the bank, they said it has gone thru. Now silence from them. *** **** **** ***** ** ***** ******* ******* ** ******** *** ******* ******* ****** ****** ** ********** ** *** *** ***** **** ** *********** **** * ********* ********** * **** *** **** **** **** **** *** ****** ** *** *** ************* *** ****** * **** ** *** ****** *** **** ** ** ********

I received a letter in the mail from General stating that I owed $397 and was going to collections. I contacted the company that supposedly supplied them with this and after speaking with three different people on two separate occasions was determined that they did not supply General with the information or contacted them to put my account into collections. The company confirmed my account was at $203 and was not in arrears . After talking with General and finding out they had no interest in pursuing if this was a ***** claim or a wrong claim I told them not to phone me as it was a **** they were trying to pull. I have now received several phone calls from BC from numbers I do not recognize they don't leave a message they just call and hang up. I would not trust this company I don't know how they got all my personal information. If the phone calls continue I will pursue legal Avenues.

Dear *******, I'm sorry you feel this way. Please understand we do not receive consumer information out of thin air. Our clients, who are creditors, assign past due accounts to our company for collection services and we contact those consumers to discuss repayment options. If you are not comfortable paying our office, you can pay the creditor directly. In addition, we are licensed across Canada and regulated by each provincial consumer protection office. You can also contact our CCO at *************************. We strongly recommend that you use this avenue to request detailed information about your account and information on how this will affect your credit history.

I received a letter and numerous calls from this company with regards to a ** ***** account. The account in questioned had been dealt with with another company and had been paid in full - which I advised them. I confirmed with ** ***** - they advised the account was paid in full and that they had not given any info to this company. When General Credit Services called next I told them that I had spoken with ***** and been advised the account was paid in full and that they had not sent any info to General Credit Services on this account. They put me on hold to speak with manager -- who never answered and was to call me back. Funny thing they have never called back.My question is how did they get my info and my ***** account number? This company is a ****!!! Be very aware and confirm with the company they say you owe money to before dealing with them at all!!!

We are sorry to hear that you feel this way. All consumer information regarding any account is sent to ********************** by the creditor. That is the only source of our information. When we ask a consumer for payment of an outstanding debt, the consumer can pay General Credit Services or the creditor directly. We fail to understand why you think this may be a scam as we are a licensed collection agency in your province. We do the same work as the previous agency that you paid for the same account.
