      Hello

there maybe some communication issue. Our service advisor and technician kindly told the customer that in order to further diagnose the vehicle to understand the cooling issue, the serpentine belt and pully would need to be replaced (they were damaged) to get the water pump to work. This could possible fix the issue but only when the water pump is working we can further diagnose the vehicle to see if there is a radiator issue etc. This was communicated to the customer. I am sorry if this was misunderstood. We are more than happy to further diagnose the issue to solve the cooling issue.

      thank you

I am rejecting this response because:

The company did not communicate this initially or during the mechanical time. Instead of this they communicate me that if the serpentine belt and pully replaced the heating and ac issue is resolved. The mechanic communicate me like that. Which means after diagnosing the coolant heating problem they suggest me to replace those parts. Then the next day I bring my car to ok tire and they told me that they didn’t inspect for the actual issue or coolant heating issue. They didn’t communicate me properly and arguing with me.Which made my car not driven condition, lost the money, difficulty made during my day to day work. If they understand like a communicate issue they need to compensate me.

After speaking with my operations manager I received from further info.

"I spoke to everyone involved today. The tech that worked on the vehicle. The service advisor that dealt with him on the phone and the service advisor that cashed him out.

The vehicle came in with the serpentine belt totally shredded, there was very little left of the belt. Customer was called and told the belt would have to be replaced for sure. He agreed.

When the new belt was installed,  The tech noticed it was not running on the pulleys properly and the new belt was also getting damaged. He investigated and found that the belt tensioner pulley was damaged causing the issue with the belt. The customer was called by the service advisor and he let him know the tensioner pulley was damaged and would have to be replaced. He told the customer this repair may fix the overheating issue because the belt drives the water pump which circulates the coolant. He at no time guaranteed that this repair would solve the overheating or A/C issue. It is impossible to diagnose an overheating/coolant issue without the water pump functioning .

The belt and tensioner repair were completed late in the day, we did not have any time to look into the overheating issue as the customer said they needed the vehicle back and had to take it. He had a friend come and pick the vehicle up, this person was told we would need further diagnostic time at a charge to find out if there is another issue causing the overheat and A/C issue.

There may have been a miscommunication when the customer was told that the serpentine belt and pulley could possibly fix the issue. Many times, vehicles are brought in with a broken belt and that is all that needs to be replaced. There are many components that the serpentine belt drives that could be an issue after a new belt is installed…A/C compressor, alternator, water pump, power steering pump, idler pulleys.

There is no chance that we would have told the customer the belt and tensioner would definitely fix the issue he was having.

I hope this further explanation of what happened can resolve this complaint.

We are happy to further diagnose the vehicle to fix the issue they are having. There would be associated cost depending on the issue that arises.

      thank you

I am rejecting this response because:

Initially the mechanic responds me like after replacing the belt and tensioner, the problem will  resolved. That’s the exact reason. During the delivery, they delivered my vehicle like they already diagnose for the heating issue and AC problem. This means they mislead me and make me complicated as well as confusion.
I told him that I need the car for next day and so I want to gets my car delivered on the same day. They did not convey that the car is not in a good condition to drive or they did not fix the heating issue. Which does not means that they didn’t fix my actual problem because of delivery time. I’m not willing to give my car again to OK Tire , I don’t trust them. They need to compensate for my car and the difficulties made by them.

Went back asking them to fix it and they are saying there is another leak that will cost me over a $1000. the first estimated was %750 and I end up paying $1282 and now they want to charge me more. they even don't care to put me on a priority appointment to fix the issue,

this is what my manager responded to customer. we are working with him to come up with a solution to solve the issue.

      Hello *****,

When you brought your Caravan to the shop you said the dealer diagnosed your issue and that the evaporator would need to be replaced in the rear of your a/c system.
We quoted you to replace the evaporator, as per the dealer diagnosis. During that repair the technician advised that the expansion valve was also bad which you agreed to have replaced at an extra fee on top of the evaporator estimate.
The two parts were replaced and we charged the a/c system and added a UV dye so we could check for any other leaks if the a/c performance faded.
When this happened you brought it back and we determined there was a leak in the rear a/c lines, there was dye coming out of them near one of the brackets that hold them together.
The technician suggested those lines be replaced as he did not see any other leaks. The lines retail for $1260.00 plus the time to replace them.

It is another pricey repair and we understand that you just paid $1280.00 in hopes that the a/c system would work well after the evaporator and expansion valve were replaced.
You also mentioned that the middle vent in the rear was not working at all and that it was before the evaporator and expansion valve replacement.
The technician did say that he was working around that area so we are taking your word that it worked before and we will definitely look into the vent issue for you free of charge.
Although we did not diagnose these parts and feel we communicated that there may be a leak somewhere after charging the system up..we are willing to try to help rectify your a/c issue.
There is one of two things we can do about your rear line leak.
We would block off the rear a/c lines so it would eliminate the leaking lines from the system but you would only have a/c in the front of the vehicle.
We could install new rear a/c lines and your system should work great front and rear. We are willing to install these lines free of labour charge and recharge your system.
If you purchase the lines at our cost of $970.34 + tax we will install them for you.
I’m sorry your van is costing more than you thought to get the a/c working. We work on these vehicles all the time and there are a lot of components to these a/c systems that cool the front and rear of the vehicle that can fail.
Please let me know if we can help with one of these options.

On May 15, 2023, this repair shop, ** **** ** **** ******** **** replaced a converter, charged me $1,304.10 just for the part, plus costs for labors and supplies. With the invoice showing the code of the part, I realize that the part is selling for $659.97 by Parts Avatar, delivered for free across Canada. So, the repair shop got an exorbitant 97% margin on the part! This is repair services where you make living largely on labor and expertise, not on parts you just order and pass their costs to customers, especially given the part's great availability in Canada. Being in the business, the shop certainly can get an even lower price from its regular suppliers. The shop could have suggested to me to get the part delivered at a much lower cost to their shop to get installed; instead, they FOOLED a customer by HIDING such a possibility just to make UNJUSTIFIABLE money of $636 ! That is total lack of transparency, honesty, and customer care in the best, and deceptive business practice in the worst. I contacted the territory manger for the franchise of OK Tire. He said 40% to 50% margin are normal in the business. In my case, however, the shop fooled me with an abusive 97% margin! Still, the manger told me nothing can be done for a reconciliation. I wish, with the intermediation by BBB, a corrective action by the repair shop cold be implemented that will adjust the business's margin to even the highest normal level of 50% and reimburse me the UNJUSTIFIABLE OVERCHARGING of $314.

      Hello

I am sorry to hear that this customer is not happy with the price he paid.

I discussed with my manager and the customer has agreed to the quote of the job and then gave his permission for the job to be completed.

45-50% gross margin was added to the cost of the part. This is an  industry standard gross margin.

The customer is now comparing us to a part online that he has found. We and many other industries cannot compete with online part companies. I really don't know how they can sell at this price. There are many consumer products that can be bought online that are much less expensive than at the retail store in many industries. they buy and sell on volume.

We were upfront with the customer and feel we did nothing wrong. Our prices are very reasonable.

I am very sorry the customer feels this way.

      regards

I am rejecting this response because:

I provided all the reasons for my demand of a  reimbursement of $314 in my original complaint --- after allowing them the highest gross margin. Yet, the shop manager showed no willingness whatsoever for a resolution.

Given their total lack of transparency and honesty in their pricing practice and customer service, I will exercise my right to post a public review and complaint about this unpleasant experience on multiple review sites to help other customers in the future.
