Driveway Paving Contract entered on June 19, 2022. Excavated within few days in same month. Asphalt was poured on Oct 20,2022. Found surface cracks and grass growing out from middle of driveway. Notified through email and followed up with several phone calls. All calls go through Antonette and she has standard answer, “I will let Sal know, he will take care of it”. No body came to take care it. The paving work has one year warranty on it. Their website says address as *** ********** **** ****, Brampton, when I visited this place the Stone Ridge paving does not exist. They’re using a mail box at this location and actually operate out of their home (somewhere). * **** ************ *** ********** *******. Totally disappointed with their poor quality job.

I have seen the pictures and clearly the driveway has certain weeds growing through it,  The complainants' issue of weeds does not fall under the Warranty of one.  According to the Section entitled Warranty and Terms of Contract row #3 states "Damages caused by the client's negligence including gasoline and oil spills, weeds, tree roots, tire marks, denting ...is not covered".

Unfortunately we cannot assist this client.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

This is another way of evading responsibility by the Stone ridge paving company. When a client signs a contract with the company there’s an element of trust and good faith, however the company chose to respond with a loophole clause which says “weeds” are not covered by warranty. I would argue, yes weeds are not covered, but I’m not complaining about weeds it’s “Grass”! Your loophole clause does not say “all plants”. This problem was caused due to inefficient paving process and leaving the pavement exposed to elements for a prolonged period of 4 months and not eliminating grass before paving.

      Sincerely,

      ****** *******

In June or July of 2021, Stone Ridge paving put in a new asphalt driveway at my residence. The paving is supposed to be guaranteed for a year. In April 2022, I noticed a crack in the driveway and have communicated with Stone Ridge in the following ways: Text - Apr 12: Identified there was a crack and that the repair would be under warranty. Texted a picture as well. The response I got the same day was "Definitely next month". Text - May 16: No response Text - May 26: No response Call - Jun 3: Not sure who I spoke to but the lady said the repair would happen when pavers were in the area. Text - Aug 2: No response Email = Aug 3: No response During this time, I have believe that Stone Ridge has replaced a couple of driveways in my general area but still nobody has come to repair mine. I am tired of the lack of communication and responsiveness to my inquiries.

Had work done on the exterior of our home 2021 May-July of paving and exposed aggregate. 2 weeks after completing the work we noticed a crack caused by their machine in their work on the driveway. We took pictures and requested their return to view and repair the crack. They stated and promised to return in 2 weeks and even after weekly calls over the months until Fall they have simply ignored our calls. The parging also is coming apart on the porch steps and so 2022 April 11 I began the calls and website messages to address these issues. Still no response.

Business Response /* (1000, 7, 2022/05/24) */ We will look into the matter as soon as possible. We will try our best to make the client happy. Consumer Response /* (3000, 9, 2022/05/24) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) ********************************** They have no intention to contact myself and return to repair what needs to be repaired. I have sent pictures and called since the job completion in 2021. They know what needs to be done and simply keep saying they are coming since last year June!!!!!!! This is ridiculous and more should be done! ******************************************** *****************************************. This is unnecessary stress. Business Response /* (4000, 11, 2022/06/05) */ We are sorry for get the client feels that way. We are not ignoring them. When we are in the Vicinity we will look after the issue. Consumer Response /* (4200, 13, 2022/06/06) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) There appears to be no solution by the response and clearly further dishonesty. We have had to go ahead with resealing the exposed concrete as it was poorly done and other 2 companies identified the sealing done by Stoneridge was poorly done. Home owners have had to go ahead with resealing and pay for a company to do so. Stoneridge had not acted in good faith and we are quite disappointed with their customer service behaviour. Business Response /* (4000, 15, 2022/06/06) */ This is the first time that we are hearing about sealing issues. To clearly state with exposed aggregate or stamped concrete yearly sealing is required for maintenance reasons. This is not a warranty issue. However, to show the client that we had good intentions we are willing to give $200 to them to help with their sealing cost. Consumer Response /* (4200, 17, 2022/06/06) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) As our family has endured enough stress and Stoneridge had ample time to act in good faith and DID NOT. We prefer to move onward at this time. We have already paid and doubt Stone ridge will fulfill any "promise" going forward. This is a stressful time for our family and this has added to it. The act of going this route was aimed to resolve the matter, though we thought it would not amount to much. ******************************************************************************** . The case may be closed as we don't wish to have any further contacts with Stone Ridge. Good day

REFUSED TO HELP SAYING IT WAS MY FAULT BECAUSE I USED SALT BUT I DID NOT ***************************************************************************** *****

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/02/11) */ This project was completed 3 years ago. We completed her driveway, curbs and walkway steps. When the client contacted us we attended her property and saw that the issue was two fold (1) inappropriate use of salt on concrete and (2) winter weather. He concrete has flaked a bit. We advised her that this was not a warranty issue. ********************************************************************************************************* Our position is There was no warranty then and there is no warranty now. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/02/14) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I called them shortly ( a few months ) after the job was completed and they didn't respond ( i called several times , until I posted the reviews. The cement has been deteriorating since. I did not use salt on my walkway (although they didn't tell me not too) they were abrupt and dismissive. they offered no help at all when you spend 7000.00 to improve your home and they leave you stranded .. *********************** THE ISSUE IS ON MY STEPS AND IF I WAS USING SALT WHY ARE MY CONCRETE SIDES ON MY DRIVEWAY FINE? *********************** There is no warranty expiry date The terms are clear. I have been complaining for three years but no answer I don't have a expiry date on my contract Business Response /* (4000, 12, 2022/02/16) */ Please be advised that the concrete that was used on her curbs is the same concrete used on her steps, which indicates that salt was used for her entrance way. The contract clearly indicates that damage caused by salt is not covered. If there was a resolution to resolve her concern we would have done it but there is no repair for Salt damage. This is unfortunate but Stone Ridge Paving is 100% committed to do great work however consumers must ensure that they do not damage the surface. Please note that the client first called after the first winter and not before hand. We stand behind our position That there is no Warranty.

I inquired on July 5, 2020 with Stone Ridge Paving & Interlocking to have my driveway repaved. We had a consultation with Marcello and he came out and assesed our driveway. We decided to go with 3-inches of ashphalt and that this would last for 20 years. This was a cost of $2150.00 and I gave Marcello a down payment of $200. I was told when they come to excavate the driveway I will pay them $950 and the remaning $1000 when they lay the ashphalt down. When the excavation was done i asked why are there no stones, they said it was fine. I called and spoke with Antoniette and she said use the old stones and rake it over, there were no stones from the last paving of 20 years ago. I kept calling because it was damaging our cars and delivery drivers cars as well. When they finally came to lay the ashphalt down, Sal said "There are no stones!" he pondered for a second and said someone needs to go and get and then said "we will give you 4 inches of ashphalt instead (done on October 2020). Now after it went through its first winter, we noticed it was starting to sink. I called June 2021 and told them this is sinking I need someone to come out. I have been given the run around since June 2021. I sent emails and called and they said they would come and look, I gave photos and they said it was not enough. They gave me only 4 inches at the top of the drivway and you can feel it sinking halfway through. Sal finally came on Nov 15,2021 and didnt even speak with me and took one photo (aside from the 6 I sent), this was well after the one year warraenty was up. He stood on the road and said your drivway is fine to my dad; who is not on the reciept of work. He left and I called and they were not helpful in any way. This is not going to last for 20 years and the email response were very ****. I can provide those once a case worker is assigned. I have done my part and called well before the warrenty was up and he didn't even speak with me or walk on the driveway to see my issue.

Business Response /* (1000, 7, 2022/01/12) */ Sorry for the delay our office has been closed since it is our off season. We have been contacted by this client and we have reviewed her complaint. Someone went out to view her concerns that she said she had. We spoke to her father as he was outside and told him there is completely nothing wrong with the said driveway except the fact that there is an area of oil spill from a vehicle that was parked on her driveway. As indicated in her contract oil spills are not warranties. *********************************************************************************** We are confident that there are no issues and advised the client in an email. Consumer Response /* (3000, 9, 2022/01/22) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) *********************************************************************************************************************************************** ******************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************. I understand fully well that this driveway will not be perfect like hardwood floor or carpet inside my house, that is pretty standard and straight forward and that is not my intention, my issues have been presented and have nothing to do with oil. I'm failing to see why they cannot read their emails and this complaint and bring oil stains in? I am talking about and have only discussed the fact that no stones were given at point of excavation and I called ********** and she did nothing, again when Sal came to lay the asphalt he himself even said we need to get stones and the turned to me and said you know what I'll put 4inches of asphalt, HE ONLY PUT 4INCHES AT THE TOP OF THE DRIVEWAY SO IT IS SINKING HALFWAY. That is my complaint. Second regarding him "speaking" with my dad. My dad was taking out garbage and Sal did not walk on the driveway to speak to him he screamed "this is what you called me for?" And walked away, if he did speak to my dad he would've heard him say please wait ********* is on her way down. I had said when he is coming to notify me so I can leave my desk from work. By the time I got down he was long gone. MY NAME IS ON TBE RECEIPT NOT MY FATHERS, I paid for the driveway with my money not his, so there is a reason I did the connecting because I am the purchaser. All I needed Sal to do was come out let ME speak to him about my concerns. The man didn't even walk on the driveway. I am also including my thread of emails, I was originally connecting with ********** on the phone in July 2021 and ********************************************************************************************** so I put it all in email. Please see that attachment of the email explaining this I have also attached separate the photos I sent which had the oil stains initially so for them to bring that randomly up when I know that's not a valid reason is beyond me. ******************************************************?! I have been honest and never ever had to make a complaint about a business like this in my life, the track record they have should really be taken into consideration with the complaints. I want my money back or for them to properly come out with MYSELF present to go over my issues. It's my hard earned money and if I was guaranteed 20 years and 6 months in I called with it already sinking this should be properly handled, if Sal cannot conduct business with clients please do not send this man, send more competent business people. Refund or come here and properly fix it.********************************************************************************************************************************************* Reminder my contract also says that stones are included, that wasn't ********************************** This is very frustrating and I want a refund. I shouldn't be dealing with this for over a year all in all this is Sals fault for not properly taking care of my driveway. Please resolve ASAP. ************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** Thanks, ********* Business Response /* (4000, 14, 2022/02/04) */ With respect to ** ****** Park we stand firm on our decision that there is nothing wrong with her driveway. We attended to see their concerns and I do not see a valid complaint. Consumer Response /* (3000, 22, 2022/02/15) */ ***Document Attached*** Hello, sorry for the delay in my response. I'm sorry but this is not acceptable response fromStoneridge. I am including the email PDF file for the thread of what was communicated. I have asked that they contact me when they are coming so I can explain my concerns. Sal didn't even walk on the driveway and no he did not speak with my father becasue my father was at the top of the driveway taking garbage out, he only looked at it at the end. That is not what the issue is, it is sinking. All i have asked is they come and wait for me to show them my areas of concern. I don't understand how not walking on it already closes the case. I only inteded to start emailing after I realized that I was getting the run around from ********** about someone coming out. I read the reviews and even when I called she said "yeah you and everyone else has complaints" so this isn't new. I have never sent a complaint out but I see a common trend with Stoneridge. There are no stones, on my contract it says stones. Also this is really fun too, since the cold weather, where it is sinking it ices and you slide down, so there is proof of a dip on the driveway. Can i please request them to come out and WAIT to speak with ME as I have paid or refund me in full and I will have another company redo this work. It took them well past the warrenty date to come out here and quickly dismiss it. From what Marcello said about this being a family business, its TERRIBLE SERVICE. I am requesting now that I be refunded of this because they are not willing to come and see the terrible job they have done. Refund me or come out and see your poor work! I am not accepting oil stains as a reason, oil stains are normal, who in their right mind would even complain about oil stains, its pavement, i have bigger things to worry about than an oil stain. My email thread attached will provide the full context of what my request was, nowehere in there do i mention oil stains, my request has been consistant. Stoneridege, honour your contract, it was bad work you did and there are MULTIPLE complaints of your work, please just own up to this and end my headache of dealing with you. Refund me! Business Response /* (4000, 27, 2022/03/21) */ There is nothing wrong with her driveway. We also had an associate company come out and look at and they said there is nothing wrong. We will not warranty something that isn't broken.

Company paved my driveway and since it was done when it rains the water runs into my garage. Tried calling at least 11 times with no one calling me back until Nov16, 2021 only to tell me they were closed and nothing they could do until the spring.

The pandemic has caused a huge increase in work and unfortunately we were not able to attend to his driveway. We will take care of it in this season May onwards.
