    Before the COVID pandemic happened we bought my husbands parents a gift card for King's Buffet in Sudbury Ontario. Now that it seems safer for my senior parents to get out and about they decided to go to King's buffet for dinner. When they went there they were told that the King's Buffet gift card we had purchased there ( prior to the pandemic and closure of eateries), was not valid as the establishment was no longer under the name of King's Buffet. After or during the pandemic they renovated the King's Buffet then changed the name to Kingsway Buffet This was not only embarrassing for my in-laws but also an inconvenience to them as they live about 20 minutes out of Sudbury and had to travel to and from the restaurant. The reason I am contacting you is the fact that someone needs to either replace this gift card with one that the new franchisers (Kingsway) will accept or refund our money for what was paid for the gift card in the first place. Please take note that my parents loved King's Buffet and one of the reasons being that my mom-inlaw has had colonoscopy surgery and can only eat certain foods which is why they liked the buffet as there was lots of variety for her to choose from. I tried contacting the head office for King's Buffet and the number is no longer in use. I also sent the above complaint to the email on the King's Buffet website but never got a response. This morning I called the Kingsway Buffet in Sudbury and explained the whole issue and was told there was nothing they could do about it. I just do not think it is right that we purchased a gift card that cannot or will not be honored to use or refunded. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
