    Complaint Against Rated Roofing and Masonry On Feb. 18, 2025, Rated Roofing and Masonry ("Marty," last name unknown) gave us a quote for $4,600 for chimney repairs after removing snow from our roof (Estimate #***). The next day, they convinced us to authorize additional repairs, increasing the cost to $8,600 (Estimate ***). We were concerned and tried to cancel that night, but they convinced us to proceed for $3,500 (Estimate #**). How can you go from $4600 to $8600 back down to $3600 on the very same job? Well by using the same materials all over again and not really doing anything at all! The final work was substandard, with mismatched shingling, below tap notches and not overlapping according to manufacturer outlines, a potentially leaking chimney and roof, and patches of some form of tar. They also left garbage behind. Rated Roofing and Masonry has ignored our requests for a refund and to rectify the issues, including our demand letter and notice of legal action in Small Claims Court. We are filing this complaint with the BBB ** **** ****** about their ********* practices and unprofessional conduct. We are seeking a full refund and compensation for the repairs needed to fix their shoddy work. Please note: We do not know "Marty's" last name, which raises further concerns ***** ***** **********. Lastly, we cannot find them in any business registry in Ontario or listed with the Canada Corporations registrations. We do not believe they are even registered with WSIB which would have been a major issue if one of the two who went on our roof had fallen off as they were not tethered either.
