    I used Economy Car Rental in Mississauga last May and it was an awful experience. It started with the $1000 hold on my credit card. Then they would not recognize the insurance we had purchased through *******, so we had to buy additional insurance. ** *** **** ** **** * *** ****** The car was actually unsafe to drive as the radial belts were exposed through the tread on all of the tires. I discovered this about 200 km from the agency as it was raining and we could no longer control the vehicle on the highway. When I contacted them, they insisted the most important thing was for me to return it to their office. They had no concern for our safety whatsoever! The sales lady actually suggested the worn out tires could be our fault. We only had the vehicle for one week. This was such a stressful situation ** *** ** *** *** ** ** *** ***** ** ******* ******* I travelled from Alberta to Ontario to see her. We had the car May 2-10, 2024 *** ** *** ****** **** ** *** ** ***** I have learned a very important lesson about checking the condition of the tires on a rental vehicle. I ran a ****** report on the rental we were in and it has been in three accidents; ***** **** ***** * **** ** **** ***** I will avoid this place like the plague! ** *** ****** ***** ******* **** ******** ** * ***** **** ** * ***** ****** **** ****** ** **** *** **** *** *** ********* * ** ********* ********* *** *** ****** ** ***** ********* ** * ****** ** ** *********** ******** * **** ** ****** * ******* *** ******* * ******** *** *** *** *** ***** *** ** *** *** **** ****** *** ** *** **** ********* * **** *** **** **** **** *********** ********* ****** ******* ** ********* **** ** *******

**** *** ******* I paid for a car online, then when I arrived to pick up the car they said it wasn’t available and they up-charged me for a different car. Also said it had 1/4 tank of fuel but it had less than that, almost on empty.

**** ***** Charged 3x what I booked online. Even if you prove to them you have your insurance certificate via credit card and personal, they ding you $5 a day xtra to ‘transfer’ your insurance? They charge for location fee, they aren’t even at the airport. You have to take the train then a shuttle! Can't comprehend. They are **** and pushy.

****** *********** *** *** **** ******* * **** **** * ***** ******* * ***** ** ************************ I rented a car from this company and it was a nightmare for both me and my insurance company. I had a little accident as I backed up into a (iced) snowbank and cracked the bumper. To rent this car it was a fight to use my own insurance company. After going back and forth I called my insurance company and they explained to them the rental is covered. Then because I was not using their insurance they charged me $4.95 per day! In the rental process the asked for my Health card! I refused to give it to them. I should have walked away them. When I returned with the car I gave them my insurance claim I opened with my insurance company as the car needed a new bumper as there was a crack in the bumper. Even though I had a claim opened with my insurance company they said it was policy to put $2,000.00 on my credit card for the accident! Once again I called my insurance company and they told them NOT to charge me as they were taking care of the damage. When I refused to pay the $2,000.00 they said they would leave my contract open and be charged daily for the card rental until the bill is paid. If I refused to pay the bill they would put me in collections. It has been 10 days since this incident and my insurance company informed me they have not submitted a claim from their insurance company yet. *** **** ** they go by 3 different names. 1. Economy Car Rental ?? Name on front of building 2. *** Car Rental ??name on accident report & email address 3. *******Canada Inc. ??name on top of the car rental agreement ****** ** ******** * ***** *** ** *** **** **** ***** **********

We set up a reservation with Economy for Christmas night. My plane to Toronto arrived on time, but the jet bridge had problems. I called from the plane (we arrived at 11:15pm) and said that we would be a few minutes late. The guy on the phone said that they would be closed before we could get there to pick up our 11:30pm reservation. He then said that they opened at 7:00 the next morning. We had a hotel by the airport anyway, so I called the next morning. No cars available! I asked what could be done and got silence. I asked about a refund and was told to email customer service. Customer Service says "no refund" because I didn't give them enough notice (they implied that I needed to give them a day's notice). As far as they're concerned, that's the end of it.

I had reserved a car in Playa Del Carmen from Economy Rent a Car through ******* and added an extra AIG Collision Insurance. However, when I went to pick up the car in Playa Del Carmen, I found out that the name of the car rental company was "******* *** *******" They forced me to purchase another additional collision insurance of US$60 (their "own") to get the car for a US$600 deposit. I showed them that I had already collision insurance, and the answer was that they had nothing to do with that. Their other option was leaving a deposit of US$13,000 for the car.

I booked a car through *******, when I found out that my car would not be ready on Friday for picking up my son from Kingston, where he was attending a summer camp at ******* **********. I chose the unlimited mileage option because I knew that driving from Toronto to Kingston and back was a long distance. I paid full price through ******* right away. When I picked up the car on Friday, I was told that I only had 200km distance for free and above it would be 20 cents per kilometer charge. Because their unlimited mileage is only for non-local drivers, as an Ontario driver, I was not qualified for unlimited mileage. At that moment, I even considered giving up this booking and going to another car rental but was told all car rentals around the airport hold similar policies and only those companies with counters inside the airport do “real unlimited mileage.” My kid was waiting and I was in a rush, so I purchased a 500km package to reduce my cost. Then the staff claimed my car insurance didn’t work with them because the little pink slip is not enough and I had to buy extra protection. They needed actual documents to show that the rental is covered. I considered the choice at that time to call my insurance company to ask them to email me a full policy document on site, but again I was in a rush,so I followed the staff’s suggestion and bought extra protection with my **** card. I was told that with the credit card it would cost less ($11.95) During this process, customers were in and out, none of them were happy. All kinds of arguments like overbooked, overcharged, car seat charge way too expensive etc. were full of the room. When I returned the car next morning the staff said there was a chip on the windshield was new and that I had to pay for the damage. Then we had to go through the damage claim report. I bought the insurance protection by their suggestion, and they didn’t trust this insurance for 1mm scratch on windshield so they held another $1000 on my credit card.
