Date of transaction: February 22, 2021, Install date was March 24, 2021 Amount money paid: $2,777.19 (50% deposit including HST), requirement was 50% and they pushed me to pay X% for their convenience of rounding up. The business committed to provide Hanstone Quartz countertops, Chantilly Lace for our washroom and kitchen. The nature of the dispute is the kitchen countertop material was installed with multiple defects on all three slabs. Large markings/dull streaks throughout, brown spots/discoloration, the sink edge was not finished with an eased edge as requested and is now chipping, and the plumbing is not sealed properly and has been leaking. We had multiple issues with the company they retained, all of which also cost us a lot of time away from work. In addition, at site verification we asked specific questions with regards to thickness of existing countertops that we were replacing, we had concerns with the existing countertop thickness/height and whether there would be issue with stove with the new specified material. They advised no. When the countertops were installed in the kitchen, they were not built up to match the existing laminate counter thickness. Now the counters are lower by ¾” and do not work with slide in flat top range. They advised after install they do not access heights or thickness when verifying. This is absurd and negligence on their part for a company in the line of business who replacing existing countertops. Our proposed Resolution: I have only paid the deposit only; however, I would like a full $1,600 refund for the kitchen as the countertops that were not replaced by Cefaloni to fix the deficiency. Right now, they have absolved themselves of the situation completely. I have a considerable amount of other concerning points to provide but I ma limited to characters here.
