1 starI called Sandpiper on Monday Apr 28, 2025 early morning to notify them I had no hot water and that on inspection the 50Gal tank was leaking badly in my basement. A technician arrived several hours later and confirmed that the tank needed to be replaced and that somebody would call me later that day. I called back two days later to ask what happened. The agent was aware of the tank problem but was unable to tell me what was being done about it. I informed her that I no longer wanted their service and that I had ordered a tank from another service provider. I received a call 15 minutes later from a "manager" at Sandpiper, who gave me a song and dance routine, including that they were waiting for a part to complete the replacement of the tank. I informed her that another service provider was schedule to replace the tank the next morning and that she could come pick up the tank tomorrow afternoon. Then she told me that the tank was now 100% mine and that I could do whatever I wanted with it. I asked how is it mine, when I was informed that the outstanding owed on it was $500? She refused to have the tank picked up, so saying it was mine, was just to get out of sending somebody to pick it up. During the 4 years that I have owned the home, I have found Sandpiper to be * **** ********** ******* ********* calling my cell phone if I am one day past due rental payment. * ****** ********* **** ****** *********** ** ******* * ******* ****** ** **** ***** ** ********* ** * ******* ********* they have no idea what the meaning of customer service is.Review fromJennifer R

1 star**** ******* ** ********** *********** I have had an issue three times with my hot water tank and each time they have needed a part and never seem to have one in stock so I am therefore left with no heat and hot water for over a week. This time I will be without heat and hot water for almost three weeks because I now need a new tank and those are "custom ordered". How can this company not keep items in stock?! They aren't able to do anything to compensate me, and if I want to leave this company I need to pay a $3,000 buyout fee!!! Why would I pay a fee to leave a ******** company with such poor service?! This was NOT my choice to have this company it was the choice of the builder of my home. I would NEVER recommend anyone to use this company ****! Customer service doesn't care that in the middle of winter people don't have heat or hot water.Review fromSarah A

1 star***** ******* ** *** ****** I have inherited a sandpiper water tank rental from the previous owner of a property I purchased. They have been nothing but trouble for the last 5 years. I have sold my house 2 weeks ago and called to transfer the contract to the new ownership. I have called 4 times over two weeks for them to send me the correct paper work to transfer out of this agreement. Every time they tell me it will take 2 business days…. Which they have still never send over paperwork. They refuse to let me speak with management or supervision. I am being held in this contract against my will and they are not sending me the papers so I can leave!Review fromAlison M

1 starFor 6 years Sandpiper sent the rental bill for their tankless hot water heater in the unit that I rent. They send the bill - I pay it immediately upon receipt. Just like how it should be. Dec 2024 was the last bill I have rec'd from Sandpiper (I'm getting my other utility bills as usual now that the ****** **** strike has ended) Except I have not rec'd any 2025 bills from Sandpiper. Instead they forward the unpaid account to accounts receivable. JUST SEND ME MY BILL SO I CAN PAY IT ON TIME! This shouldn't be so hard.Review fromFeikai C

1 star**** **** ******** ******** They sent us an invoice which I had already paid a month ago and even had their receipt in hand. They dare enough to resend it and try to collect the paid amount through my credit card again saying we owe them that money. We asked the manager to call us back. A lady claiming as a manager called just trying to collect our credit card information without even looking into the situation. When we asked her how she as a manager would handle this, her answer was "what do you want?" That sounds like a story, and I am joking right? No, I am not joking at all. That is exactly what happened to us today. *** *** ******* ** ** ** *** *** * **** *****Review fromBrenda G

1 starJust wanted to share my recent customer experience. I’ve rented a water heater tank from this company for many years. One day in August our tank failed so I had to have their service technician come to take a look. Turns out we need a new tank but due to timing and distribution supply he said we would not have one until a few days later. After the service call I received another follow up call from their office. They explained that due to Customs issues I wouldn’t receive a new tank until 4 weeks. They told me the best solution was to close my account and go with another company or buy one myself. They thanked me for being a valued customer. I’ve been with them for over 10 years. I asked him what would I do with a broken tank in my basement. He said I could discard it myself and that there was no further action from the company. My concerns are this: 1) I’ve paid thousands of dollars for this rental policy and they could not be bothered to pick up a new tank from either **** ***** or ****. (Think outside the box please). They would rather lose me as a valued customer than find an alternative solution. 2) I have to now figure out how to empty and remove their tank from my basement. As well figure out what to do next. I’m not happy at all with their rental policy if this is the way they do business as well as treat their customers. What I would like to see is this company compensate me for this inconvenience made on the behalf of their inability to replace the tank; as well as the inconvenience to remove the broken one. I sent tons of emails and called. Received a new bill for renting. Now I finally have an open case file number with them. Fingers crossed they pick up their garbage.Review fromHeather W

1 starEnded up with Sandpiper only because they took over my previous company’s rentals. Never signed a contract. My hot water tank was installed in 1987. They claim my unit was new in 2011. Heater stopped working and want to end my business with this company. $100 charge to close my account. **** * *****Review fromWendy P

1 starWe took over an original contract from the person we bought our condo from. They installed a new water heater in June 2016. We started paying for it in September 2017. We now wish to go with another company as the water heater has a small leak. I was told by another customer of theirs that they changed their 6 year contracts to 10 year contracts, which I was unaware of. When I called, they told me there was a buyout, and I received an invoice for $1,073.63, that is on top of the over 6 years we have paid, plus the original owners payments. I asked for a copy of the original contract but they would not send one to me. I asked to speak to a supervisor and I received a brief email, that didn't answer any of my questions. I want out of this contract so I can replace my leaking water heater. I feel we have definitely paid for this water heater a few times over.Review fromJohn M

1 starIn Sept 2021, ****** **** installed 1 heat pump. The heat pump was partially financed through Sandpiper Energy Solutions for a total $6,312.35 ($4,990.00 install, electrical and materials) administration fee ($499.00) + HST. We made a payment of $1,198.00 at installation. 36 payments of $75.00 to ****** **** for a total $1,875.00. 120 payments of $40.23 to Sandpiper Energy Solutions for a total of $1,005.75 Last month we met with our bank to discuss our mortgage and learned that Sandpiper had put a lien on our property. I called Sandpiper to get the buyout amount as the lien was holding up our mortgage. The buyout amount was $4,204.47 that I paid on March 11, 2024. There was an outstanding balance of $798.00, which we also paid. When reviewing the total amounts paid between ****** **** and Sandpiper Energy Solutions (***** ***** *******). This is what we have paid out: ****** **** 25 X $75.00 $1,875.00 Initial payment (at installation) $1,198.00 Final payment $798.00 $3,871.50 Sandpiper 25 X $40.23 $1,005.00 Final payout $4,204.47 $5,210.22 Total $9,081.72 The difference between the signed contract and amount paid out is $2,769.37. I called Sandpiper to question the total amount that we have paid with little satisfaction. The response from (Divia?) was unsatisfactory. She quoted complicated calculations to justify the almost $2,800.00 more than the contract. As a couple trying to reduce costs as we move into our retirement years, our experience is disappointing. I have shared our experience with ****.
