1 starThey are nothing but ripoff artists. The initial quote was reasonable so we decided to go with this company for our move. We sent the deposit of $1750. After that was when extra charges and fees and weight charges were applied. The end result was double the initial quote and we were still fine with paying that. The final straw for me was when I had a bank draft done for around $5000 and then they said extra money for stairs and other expenses. I had already paid $1750 and had a draft for $4700 more and still wasn't enough. I was fearful then then they would hold our possessions hostage for yet more money when they got to the delivery location. I would recommend people not use this company because of all the hidden upcharges. i asked the company for some of my deposit back to be fair and --nothing. Guess I didn't pay enough to satisfy them. I would give them a negative star but this system forces me to give a least one star.Review fromDouglas R

1 starI would give this company a negative review if I could. DO NOT HIRE THEM! They destroyed my mattress, broke my tv, destroyed my daughters brand new crib and one of their staff stole my daughters brand new high chair and play pen. They also destroyed our tv and opened our boxes and stole stuff out of them. Their contract is a scam and they dont care about being professional at all. You will not speak to anyone on the phone if you have any issues. They also took 2 months to deliver our stuff from Vancouver island to ********** area. I will ware everyone I know about this company and encourage no one to use their services. What we thought would be a convenient way to move our belongings needed up being our WORST nightmare. I am so upset and hope other people will read this review and not go with this company.Review fromKara M

2 starsI moved from ******* to just outside of *********. I had a fairly good experience with the sales rep and movers that picked up my items so I was happy at first. I was unhappy with the care of my items and the deceit around broken items. My computer chair was returned to me with a wheel clearly broken off and replaced with an ill-fitting wheel that looks completely different and falls out when I move the chair. The broken item was never mentioned and the movers dropped items quickly and left just as quickly so I wasn't given the opportunity to check. Due to standard liability and coverage limitations, they would only cover less than $10 as the weight of the chair is light I guess. I was told I was informed of this before the move, but when I spoke to the rep before the move I was told extra insurance purchased through them wouldn't be worth it so I didn't purchase and chose to send my more delicate items through a different route. There were other damages like light scratches to my furniture, but I didn't bother mentioning this as the move was cheap and I expected small damages like this to some degree and accepted it could happen before booking. Overall I felt lied to and my items note respected. I understand they told me about the lack of coverage beforehand but the movers never mentioned the damage or how I could even put through a claim for that measly amount. The overall experience wasn't comfortable. I have never used a mover before, I don't know if this is normal but I disliked that I couldn't be given a pick-up or drop-off time until the day before, I was moving out of province and had to line up transportation out of province after the move, how can I do that with less than 24hr notice? I also didn't like that I was made to pay the total at the end over the phone before they would book my movers to come out the next day, it felt like I wouldn't get my items and it felt unfair that I couldn't even see the condition of my items before I paid.Review fromSteven G. 5 starsSeriously great service with these folks. Had moved with them recently from ******** to ************). They emailed me a price, and called me after to follow up. The sales person (*****) was great to deal with and had offered to take a better look at what needed to be moved. I was happy with that as most other companies were quick to spit out the price and didnt even care what was being moved. We had a painting crated and I was happy with the outcome. The piece came undamaged. I was happy with the customer service approach and overall final price. Deposit was 750 and final price was paid before delivery.Review fromLeo F

5 starsFrom the sales agent, to the packing team, to the team who loaded up our home and transported it to *******, the experience was positive. They were all very professional, friendly, courteous and considerate of our belongings. Everything was wrapped carefully and arrived in good shape - absolutely no damages!! There was a delay with the delivery date and it had to be moved because of a snow storm in GTA, and I wish that it was not delayed, but I understood that this was unpredictable. They did schedule the delivery for the next business day, and kept in touch with us which I appreciated. We dealt with ***** to book the move, but everyone was great to deal with, including the dispatcher who confirmed and set up the delivery date. ***** was very fair considering we moved and paid more than double when we moved to **, so we were very happy with the service.Review fromJeff L

1 starDo NOT use Alliance Van Lines to move your valued possessions. Go with ANY other moving company. Run away from these guys. They're scamming crooks! My elderly mother recently used their company to move from ** to ********. They scammed her out of $577.50. Even though the move was planned for months, they called her 2 days before arrival and claimed that looking at ****** Maps shows that they won't be able to fit their 50-foot trailer in the lot, and that she will have to pay an extra $577.50 to 'long carry' her stuff, because they would have to park on the street. It's odd they would only look this up 2 days before, but there's nothing my mother could do since they now had her stuff in their possession, so she reluctantly paid it. They showed up a day late and were able to pull right up to the door without any problems. The driver ensured my mother that there was no 'long carry' involved, and that she would be refunded the additional charge. However, their Operations Manager, ********************* would not refund the money even though a clear picture was provided of the truck parked right up to the door. They're just keeping the money and refusing any explanation as to why. That's theft in my books. On top of all of that, they damaged most of her stuff beyond repair - we had to throw many expensive items in the garbage. After reading other reviews, we realized it wasn't worth our time to claim the damages or anything. We can only try and help others so they don't make the same mistake and use this terrible moving company.We actually didn't get it so bad compared to other reviews I've read, where people have been scammed out of thousands by these crooks. Once this company has your stuff in their possession, expect the hidden charges to rack up. You're at their mercy once they have your stuff. 1 starAbsolutely awful experience with a cross country move. We paid our deposit and set the date for pick up...they called the week of to move the date forward...we informed them we wouldn't be fully packed by then, they said not to worry, they'd help finish...forgot to mention they'd charge an extra $800 in supplies etc. Truck driver drove over our lawn in multiple spots, caused $1,800 in damage, randomly decided to use our shower mid move. They quoted us **** days for the move once it departed their facility, a local company told us it would be anywhere from ***** days...when asked they said it's business days...despite never mentioning that before. A box truck showed up on the 14th day...we had loaded 3/4's of a 53' semi trailer...as we got to the end I noticed lots of missing items...the driver called his office and turns out they had split our load and on the 19th of November were told the remainder would be to us between the 3rd and 8th of December...so we had furniture we couldn't put together because parts were in the second load. We told them from the 1st-4th we had appointments at thr children's hospital so wouldn't be available. They told us they'd deliver the second half on the 30th instead in the morning...then pushed it to the night...then to the 1st..we had no choice but to change our schedule to accommodate them again. Truck showed up with one driver only. He had to unload someone else's load into our driveway, had no issues throwing items and dropping them from the truck even items marked fragile. Informed alliance, they ignored any comments about his behavior. Had to help unload despite paying $14,000 for movers because he was one guy. Damage to items is extensive. Avoid at all costs.
