The salesperson that showed up at my door told me it was a rental contract that would help me save on my gas bill from ******** (our local gas provider), it didn't. She told me I can cancel anytime I want, or I can buy out the equipment at the end of the contract term. The equipment they installed for me were 1 ****** **** Thermostat and 2 **** CO2 detectors. The monthly rental charge of 40 dollars plus tax was reasonable, so I signed a contract with them, of which I assume was just a rental agreement of the equipment that I can cancel whenever I wanted. A year after I signed up with them, one of the smoke detectors was malfunctioning. I called them to try to cancel the contract, but they persuaded me to stay with a cash compensation offer. It's been almost 4 years into the contract, I called them to cancel and return their equipment. This is when the representative from MorConnect told me I was actually bound to a contract to them for 10 years, and of which I agreed to pay them around 5,600 dollars in total. I was told I needed to pay around 3000 dollars to cancel. At this stage, I paid at least $2,000 in what I thought was rent to them already through my gas bill, which is more than enough to buy out these equipment by two fold at standard retail price. After denying my request to cancel the contract, I had no choice but to call ******** for assistance. After reviewing my claim, ******** agreed with me that these charges are not justified, and stopped any further charges to my gas bills. I thought this was resolved, and that ******** had forced them to cancel the contract. However, my lawyer recently informed me that I have a security interest under my title for $5,619 to this company. I am currently in the process of selling my house, and the buyer is not going to pay for this. I really need help dealing with this company. I didn't consider legal actions before since I thought it was resolved, but it's coming back ***********

A girl came to my door saying that I may have been overcharged on my ******** gas bill and made me sign forms for a rebate for $25 and called a company and then they called me and she said to tell them she's not still with me if they asked. The person on the phone made me answer yes and no questions and she kept muting herself and speaking over them. She also asked to come inside but I said no, and now my hot water isn't on and I researched the phone number to find out it was a scam.

On March 18, 2022 at roughly 2pm, a representative came to my door claiming to be from ********, saying I was being overcharged. She had me sign some forms so I could get a rebate. I had no idea that she did not work for ********. She said I would receive a rebate of $25 a month. She left me with no paperwork, I had no idea I was signing up for a 60 MONTH CONTRACT!!! There was this "confirmation phone call" she did with the company while she was here, but she spoke over it to "explain" it to me, and the person on the phone spoke very fast and garbled. Her name was ******* and her phone number was ************. I gave her my name, address, phone, email, and banking transit and account numbers. When I called her she answered and promised to call me back and said she worked for something called ************? She has not yet returned my calls. ***************************************************************** ***************************************************************** ************************************* I am currently trying to cancel but of course they do this on a Friday. I've changed my baking info, reported it to fraud Canada, and contacted local police.

I am reporting a door-to-door **** by morConnect Inc., on September 15, 2021, a rep came to my door who identified herself from ******** Gas, she told me that I am being overcharged for the gas bill and asked me to show her my recent ******** Gas bill and the amount I am being charged. She told me that she can collect my information and have my gas bill capped to $35 each month. I further asked her how this will benefit me as there are months where my bill is less than $35 and she explained to me that this will help me in the winter months when my gas bills are higher and will be only charged $35 / month as the gas bill will be capped to $35. She tricked me into signing the form to process this request. She called someone and provided my information, and told me that I will receive a call from the company to confirm the general COVID-related questions. She stayed there until I received the call, on the call general questions and commentary begins and on the other hand instead of letting me listen to the call she put my phone on loudspeaker and also engaged me in explaining the amount will be caped and all while the lady on the phone ask me to confirm if I understand it. I couldn't listen to both of them at once and so I went by what this rep was telling me and based on that I confirmed on the call. I was told that I will receive the email and she did not leave my signed copy of the agreement. I never received an email, on my next ******** bill I got charged for the carbon offset in the amount of $33.84. When I inquire about the charges, the whole **** of tricking me into signing the contract and incorrectly representing ******** Gas got visible to me. I also find out that this is a common **** that has happened to many people. Upon requesting to cancel the contract and refunding me the amount I was charged, I was told that I will be penalized for canceling the contract. I am looking to resolving this matter.
