On January of 2020 ,I purchased an extended warranty for my new 2019 Nissan Qashqai under the premise that if the warranty was not used I would be able to apply for a $**** rebate. January 2025 is when I was eligible to apply for the rebate so I did. I was then notified that I did indeed make a claim for a service that was performed in July of 2021 when I took the vehicle in for an oil change. On the invoice , I had taken in the vehicle for one of the complimentary oil changes and I had mentioned that my low tire warning had come on. On the invoice it states that a nail was found, removed and repaired. No mention of me authorizing to use my warranty. Oakwood Nissan made a claim on my behalf, effectively nullifying my chance to get my $**** rebate

On August 12, 2023 we went to Oakwood Nissan to look at two used vehicles that were of interest to us; there are several concerns about how they go about trying to force a sale but I want to address my main concerns so won't get into all that. Concern #1 is how they calculate tax on their product and your trade as you can see on the attached contract there is a difference of $998.57 on tax added to there vehicle if they are using 11% and they under calculated the taxes on our trade. When we brought this to there attention they stated this is the way thy have always done it. Concern #2 we agreed to the price of the vehicle but it was to include the provision and installation of command start or a $1,000. Discount so we could install our own( that was the amount the sales person said it would be. We signed a contract (photo attached) and went to get a bank draft to pay. When we got back with the check they photo copied the agreement and took our money. No mention was made of the fact that they crossed off the command start and we didn't notice it was crossed out until I started wondering why we hadn't been contacted to make an appointment for installation, no follow up call was made by th salesman as he had stated he would. The item was crossed out on an already signed agreement after the fact. I stated these and other concerns to the company via a comment online but still no contact. I want the command start installed or $1000. Refund

The tax is calculated correctly. ***** and ***** ****** purchased the ***** for $51588.00. They also took advantage of Safety and Security Package at $899.00. That taxable sum is $52487.00. PST and GST, at combined 11%, is $5773.57. That total is $58260.57.  Their trade in was worth $14378.89 and has a tax credit of $1581.67 for a value of $15960.56, including the tax credit. For a tax paid difference of $42300.00. We can calculate the tax on the purchase difference, which is the amount remitted. The taxable sum is, as above, $52487.00. Less the value of their trade, without tax credit, as above, $14378.89. The taxable difference is $38108.11. Plus taxes at 11%, is $4191.89. Of course, this equals $42300.00.
Regarding the discussion about the remote starter, it's essential to clarify that it was removed from the negotiation before reaching an agreement on the tax paid difference of $42,300.00. Our consultant agreed on the difference with *****, with out ***** present.  Our consultant phoned ***** the day after the purchase and no mention was made of any issues with the purchase. Oakwood Nissan had not agreed to a remote starter being part of the purchase. ***** and ***** have received full value for money.
    I consider this matter closed.

My vehicle has been brought to Oakwood Nissan to get maintenance since the day we bought it to make sure everything is running fine and that we wouldn't void our warranty. Now that we are just past our warranty, the transfer case is defective. They say they told us to get the power train maintenance done and that we refused it. At no time were we told that we needed to get this maintenance. We would take it in the morning before work, have Nissan do the maintenance, at the end of the day we would pick it up. We had a maintenance package so often times they would tell me there is no charge and we would be on our way. At no time did they tell us about the power train maintenance needing to be done or that they didn't take care of all milestone maintenance to keep up with our warranty. Tis is why they insist they will not fix the transfer case. What I would like to see happen is have them replace my transfer case at no cost since they made the error in my maintenance plan. I just brought it in a month ago and they send follow up emails with regards to recommended maintenance but failed to due so while under warranty. Since they did not make the maintenance known to me, I believe I would have a still functioning transfer case if they had treated me and my purchase respectfully. I do have receipts showing that I got them to change air filters, something I am capable of doing but didn't want to void my warranty. The receipts I uploaded also states like all the others that :road test, all ok"

Mr. **** has a 2017 Nissan Rogue. Upon last inspection on March 14 2023, the odometer stated 140,594 kilometres. Mr. ****'s powertrain warranty had expired in November of 2021. Both time and mileage have expired on this vehicle for quite some time. As for maintenance, an oil change was done at 138,347 kms. At that time there was no complaint or indication of a driveline problem. As per the attached document, a driveline service was recommended.  Prior to this service and recommendation, by Mr. ****'s admission, it had been over 20,000 kms since he had had a service done.  As for the "Maintenance Package", Mr. **** did have an oil change and tire rotation package that ended last year. Mr. **** did pay for a driveline service, but that was in 2019 over 70,000 kms ago. To suggest there is negligence here  is completely false. There is no warranty because it has expired. We consider this matter closed.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I had to take my vehicle to Edmonton after I got the maintenance done and that occurred before I was able to make an appointment for the power train maintenance. Upon my travels to Edmonton, I noticed a knocking sound. At no time did Nissan say this was a requirement before driving the vehicle. I still consider Nissan negligent but also know that Nissan is about dollars a cents as opposed to customer care and am going to take my business elsewhere and warn people of my sub par experience with a sub par run company.

    Sincerely,

    ***** ****
